Merge proposal[edit]

I believe this game should be merged into the main article as it's not significantly different, and the info could easily be merged into Chaos;Head-- 00:14, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Naturally, I contest this merge proposal (or else I wouldn't have made a new article to begin with ;)). What would you quantify as being "significantly different", Juhachi? --Remy Suen (talk) 00:20, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Significantly different would be a spin-off which has little to no similarity to the original media. The point of merging articles is that they don't overlap. The plot/characters from this one (I believe) will certainly do that, the development team stays the same "All of the staff above took part in the original Chaos;Head.", and the media could be merged into the media of Chaos;Head by just placing it in its respective sections in new paragraphs. Finally, the fact is that this game shares the same title as with the original, so keeping all the Chaos;Head material in one place would make the most sense.-- 00:33, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Besides the characters' descriptions and the not-yet-written gameplay section, I don't think the other sections are going to overlap. The plot is not the same and the style/feel of this game is completely different from the original given its lightheartedness considering how serious the original was. Also, Dengeki is providing significant coverage on the game which I feel more than satisfies WP:GNG and should merit Love Chu Chu! its own article.
I'm pretty sure I'm breaking some Wikipedia rule/guideline here by bringing up "precedence" but I can think of cases for both sides of the coin. In the keep case, Tomoyo After could be a candidate though that might be pushing it. We do have articles for expansion packs like Throne of Bhaal or Brood War that are, well, expansion packs, they add some characters, extend the plot a bit, and maybe tweak the gameplay a bit. For the merge case, Persona 3 is an excellent example as FES does not have its own article. And of course, there are games like Guilty Gear XX that has multiple iterations all packed in one article. ;)
While I think your last point is valid, I feel that the current C;H article as it is is too focused on the game itself. Not that that's a bad thing. In any case, if it was more...neutral, for the lack of a better word, and provided more coverage on the other stuff like the anime or the manga, then I might be convinced otherwise. It's not currently in the state of a generic "series" or "franchise" article. It just seems to me like that article should be about that game, and this article should be about this game. --Remy Suen (talk) 01:23, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I personally can't accept something as ambiguous as "precedence" as a good enough argument, especially when each case may be different in several different factors to this one. I thought either Tomoyo After or the more recent Kud Wafter might come up, and I was prepared to defend them by citing their differing staff, plot (to a large enough extent where both games only have a single heroine and revolves around her entirely), and in Tomoyo After's case, gameplay (not only is it an adult game where Clannad wasn't, but the extra RPG element too). I was going to bring up something like why Little Busters! Ecstasy didn't get its own article because it's so similar to the original save it's adult and has a few more heroines plus an expanded story and soundtrack.
However, I'd be willing to let this just be, granted enough significant coverage was done. ASCII Media Works having their own section of Dengeki for the game is not all that surprising to me when you consider the company is already involved in the franchise (manga of Chaos; Head running in Dengeki Daioh). Of course, since this is a console game first, it's bound to get more coverage than say if it were a PC eroge. I wouldn't be surprised if someone proposes a merger again in the future, at least right now.-- 07:58, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Right, I pretty much figured it wouldn't be acceptable/sufficient and that's precisely why I said I was pretty sure I was breaking a Wikipedia rule (I think I found it, WP:OTHERSTUFF and/or WP:ALLORNOTHING). :) I have no qualms over the fact that Tomoyo After and Kud Wafter gets their own article and I am also in agreement that Little Busters! Ecstasy should just be in the article with the original work. If I wasn't of that kind of mindset, I would've spun a new article for Noah. In any case, it seems we will just have to agree to disagree for the time being. --Remy Suen (talk) 12:50, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
