Wrong Spelling[edit]

I suggest creating a new page "Chandra Dynasty" and move the whole content of this page. altaf 10:01, 10 April 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Md.altaf.rahman (talkcontribs)

Undid the move; In the listed sources, the name of the kingdom and dynasty is always spelled 'Candra', even though the names of the rulers contain 'chandra'--Reahad (talk) 04:45, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Chandra dynastyCandra dynasty – All sources listed for the article refer to the dynasty as Candra, not Chandra – Reahad (talk) 04:12, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:40, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Reahad: Technical linguistic sources, perhaps. But in matter that the general English-speaking public may read, "Candra" is liable to be pronounced as "Kandra". Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:40, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Unsupport : as Anthony says for english or any other language it will turn out to some other word ! it seems fine now Shrikanthv (talk) 08:14, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose: I concur with Anthony that IAST spelling is confusing to the general public with Candra likely to be pronounced as Kandra. Furthermore, not all listed sources use the IAST spelling of Candra as Majumdar does not. Neither do a number of other sources including these: 1, 2, 3, etc. Simplified transliterations are also preferred on Wikipedia in articles such as Chandragupta Maurya, Chandragupta II, Chandrakirti, and Chandra itself even though some writers use Candragupta Maurya, Candragupta II, Candrakirti, and Candra respectively. See also: Chalukya dynasty, Charvaka, Chakra, etc.--Cpt.a.haddock (talk) (please ping when replying) 08:42, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

-Fair enough, the editions I own use that spelling but its probable that they were revised later--Reahad (talk) 15:27, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Chandra dynasty[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Chandra dynasty's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
