It's true that this page is still a stub, but the organization itself is well-known, respected, and influential in several sub-disciplines of linguistics, particularly in ESOL and second-language education (as it's a United States-based organization, that amounts to languages other than English). The group is also influential in the promotion of the study of less commonly taught languages. CAL also publishes policy papers that influences US legislation related to linguistic policy in the US.
