Fair use rationale for Image:Uncannyxmen390.gif[edit]

Image:Uncannyxmen390.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

WikiProject Comics B-Class Assesment required[edit]

This article needs the B-Class checklist filled in to remain a B-Class article for the Comics WikiProject. If the checklist is not filled in by 7th August this article will be re-assessed as C-Class. The checklist should be filled out referencing the guidance given at Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment/B-Class criteria. For further details please contact the Comics WikiProject. C-Class rated for Comics Project[edit]

As this B-Class article has yet to receive a review, it has been rated as C-Class. If you disagree and would like to request an assesment, please visit Wikipedia:WikiProject_Comics/Assessment#Requesting_an_assessment and list the article. Hiding T 12:52, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The writing seems a bit weak, and the article could do with a lot more {{cite comic}} references.

In other media[edit]

In the 2006 movie X-Men: The Last Stand, Kavita Rao was played by Iranian-American actress Shohreh Aghdashloo, despite claims Aghdashloo made in an interview in the August 26, 2005 Entertainment Weekly that she would be playing Dr. Cecilia Reyes.[1][2]

  1. ^ Gary Susman (August 26, 2005). "The freakishly talented cast of 'X-Men 3'". Entertainment Weekly. Time Inc. I'm playing Dr. Cecilia Reyes (inset), and she has this power to create a six-inch force field around herself and ward off any attack.
  2. ^ http://movies.ign.com/articles/646/646050p1.html "We checked with our trusty source who advised us that Aghdashloo is simply mistaken. She is indeed portraying Dr. Kavita Rao."

I removed the above "Other media" section and I'm preserving it here in case anyone mistakenly tries to add it back. I wasted some time finding references for the section but after I thought about it for a while I realised the section should not be in the article at all. I can see how a claim would have been added to the article and then later corrected. The intereviews mentioned predated the film so after the film came out this was all out of date and moot. There isn't much pointing keeping a section to discuss a non appearance. -- Horkana (talk) 22:47, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

redirected to List of Marvel Comics characters[edit]

I redirected this page because the article has only one non-primary ref, and isn't notable enough for a stand-alone article. Another user contested it, and it was discussed here. Consensus was in favor of the merge. Argento Surfer (talk) 22:00, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry but I don't agree for the redirection of this article to the List of Marvel Comics characters. This list is supposed to be for the minor characters of Marvel Comics and Cecilia Reyes is clearly not a minor character. She have a big role in the history of the X-Men. we CAN'T redirect this article. --Antoinejd (talk) 14:51, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The list is for characters not notable enough to support their own article. If you can find sources about the character outside of a comic book, the article can be restored. The original discussion has been archived, and can now be found [1]. Another relevant conversation is [2]. Argento Surfer (talk) 15:52, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have two sources: http://marvel.wikia.com/Cecilia_Reyes_(Earth-616) http://www.comicvine.com/cecilia-reyes/4005-14177/ --Antoinejd (talk) 16:11, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Both of those can be edited by users, and therefore aren't reliable. You need some sources talking about the character outside the context of fiction. Take a look at Spider-Man or Superman for good examples of character articles. Argento Surfer (talk) 19:11, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand why the sources have to be outside the context of fiction. Cecilia Reyes is a fictionnal character, so there are no sources more reliable than comic books or article with fiction context. It's logic!--Antoinejd (talk) 19:26, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

None more reliable about her heroics, sure. But Wikipedia articles are supposed to be more than just plot. Have her creators talked about how she was inspired? Has her character warrented any attention outside of comics? Has she been in a movie, a cartoon, or been made into a toy or statue? Is she important outside of a comic book? If not, she belongs on a list. Again, I suggest looking at other character articles for guidance. Thanos is another good example of including non-fictional information about a fictional character.

But this is ridiculous. There are a lot of wiki articles about marvel characters who doesn't contain sources outside the context of fiction. Should we remove all of them?! We can not just remove an article about an important character just because tere is no information about "how the writer and designer have the idea to create the character" or something like that. Who cares about these imformations? Is it so important? I really don't think this is a sufficient reason. Don't think I absolutely want to have the last word. It's just that I want to say my opinion. P.S. - Sorry for my english. I was born at Montreal. --Antoinejd (talk) 19:14, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I know there are lots of other articles like this one, and yes, they are actively being merged into lists also. It's a slow process and this one was done sooner than some others because it starts with "C". The real-world information is vital for a character to be included as a standalone wikipedia article. I know some users (including me) come here for character biographies, and that's why the lists (are supposed to) include links to the Grand Marvel Database and the Marvel Wikia.
I understand why you want this to be a full article. Some of my favorite characters don't qualify either, and the exact guidelines for how a character qualifies get argued over frequently.
Your english is just fine, and it's clear to me you want to help make Wikipedia a better place. I hope you'll take the time to read the talk pages for articles like the ones I linked to before, or Adam Warlock, or Wolverine, you'll find lots of useful information. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me. I'll help you as much as I can. Argento Surfer (talk) 14:59, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
