Job classifieds?[edit]

This article looks like a huge job classifieds page. Can someone who plays the game post a NPOV article? Talk User:Fissionfox 04:34, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The only part that seems like classifieds is the very end, as though it were a plea for programmers. "Castle Infinity's future is largely dependent on if Kevin Quitt chooses to (and is able to) repair the damage to the code and the release folder. If the errors can be corrected, Castle Infinity will most likely reopen at a date to be determined. If not, the large likelihood is that Castle Infinity will remain closed." Everything before that part seems good. -Eptin 18:01, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh wait, now I see the part that looked like a job classifieds page. It's removed now. --Eptin 03:11, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanto?[edit]

I don't really think the official language is Esperanto. I have seen no characters speaking it, nor dinosaurs. Anyone agree that this should be changed to English, as in the language?

No, the characters all said things like "sin gardi! esta cerbo suksoso!", and it was all slightly modified Esperanto. Of course, for the purposes of people being able to play the game, they also spoke in English. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DrDoog (talkcontribs) 01:57, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was pidgin Esperanto (e.g., the idiomatic dinosaur imperative "sin gardi" would be "sin gardu" in standard Esperanto). We tried to "educate" the dinosaurs but they persisted in their doomed traditional ways. Dr. Foster

Game finally closed[edit]

At some point late 2008, the game finally closed for good. I could probably do some digging through my personal files of the game and find a transcript explaining it, but honestly, the only people who ever would care to read this page are those that already know about it and were there when it closed. -- DrDoog (talk) 02:00, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User ID error vs. just a programming error[edit]

I was around for the whole end of C8, and people could log in just fine. The server software was overwritten with bad builds, and that caused a whole mess of problems, but it wasn't completely game-threatening. In reality though, the game just closed because only about two people still played the game, the only programmer had made that mess and was too swamped to fix it AND keep working on the game, and we had all just been waiting for the game to close for months anyway. I've talked with Jeian, who originally wrote the User ID bit, and he says he had only heard secondhand that it was the reason.

I believe that since there's disagreement on whether it was a corruption of the user database or some other programming problem, we should go with a general "programming problem" explanation. Not to mention, the old explanation was very wordy to the point of almost being irrelevant, and saying it was simply a programming error is more concise.. -- FranklinjKennedy (talk) 04:23, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't deny the many problems we had, but the final nail was an error in script translation during the transfer of the web site from a Windows server to Apache running under a VM. The script in question generted the (next) ID for a new user, which ID was key to accessing a player's data. The translated script failed to verify the ID was not in use, and increment it until it found a usable one. Therefore, everybody who joined from that point was given the same ID and were effectively logging into the same account via different user names and passwords. I am certain you can imagine the confusion that ensued. Kdq (talk) 21:37, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Stella?[edit]

Anyone know the name of the actress who played Stella? I can't find her name anywhere and I think she deserves a mention in the article. Really all the characters should be mentioned, but I guess no one cares anymore. I have very fond memories of this game from 1996 through 98. My screen name was 49er. 98.240.33.218 (talk) 08:36, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That would be Heather Ostrom according to the credits. But is each actor or voice-actor relevant to the article? --Eptin (talk) 05:31, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
