Memories of Carey Landry[edit]

I met Carey when he was with the Neuman Center at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1978, I helped with music ministry for several retreats. He also (with a group of my friends from the university) sang at my mothers Funeral mass. (two drunk drivers took her life and my 9 month pregnant sister-in-law) I got to meet back up with him a couple of times when he visited the Washington DC area. I haven't heard anything about him in ages, and decided to do some googling. :) SpankyCraig 07:25, 19 May 2007 (UTC)craig braquet[reply]

FWIW, I know he has visited the Catholic music pages at Wikipedia. — Lawrence King (talk) 08:00, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Peace Is Flowing Like a River[edit]

The first two posts below originally appeared in User talk:Johnmarkf:

Regarding Peace Is Flowing Like a River, a couple of websearches later it seems there's more than one version of the song around, some of them quite old. Carey Landry did write music to it, (c) 1975, but it appears the words are older (possibly based on Psalm 107) and some of the other versions use more or less the same words. Nevertheless, I would guess that Landry's version is probably the one most widely used nowadays in Catholic liturgies. --Mwalimu59 04:53, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Carey Landry arranged the traditional spiritual song. He didn't compose it. I will check the reference in Glory and Praise. I do know that it does appear as a more generic hymn in other hymnals, such as WLP's We Celebrate and is not attributed to him. --Johnmarkf 05:11, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am still of the opinion that this song should be mentioned in the article. What would be an accurate way to state Landry's contribution to the version of the song that is attributed to him? --Mwalimu59 15:27, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and added it back in a way that attempts to be accurate. --Mwalimu59 20:21, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Carey Landry's music was very instrumental in helping me return to the Lord many years ago. I find myself in the dark again but am unable to find CD's in canadian spiritual shops. Can anyone help me? 24.222.189.6 (talk) 14:35, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
