White flight?[edit]

This school fits into the time period when white parents fled desegregated public schools for private schools, generally called "academies." Is there any support for the idea that the Cape Fear Academy was founded in response to desegregation in Wilmington, NC? Was there a Federal court order to desegregate Wilmington public schools? What is the racial composition of the academy? Lily white? Mixed?

I am not from North Carolina. Perhaps a locally knowledgeable Wikipedian can inform us. This might make the article more "notable." Donfbreed (talk) 10:30, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, this is correct. Mostly white school founded in sixties. Original mascot was 'the rebels'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.67.87.189 (talkcontribs) 23:34, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

John Hildebrand[edit]

John was and is the best soccer player ever at CFA holding many records and leading the team through the weak coaching of Sonny Travis in the early 80’s he was truly a star and deserves proper recognition kind regards 2600:1700:3F60:2310:7557:114C:2F3F:DA6A (talk) 01:19, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
