Edstock[edit]

Where is Edstock?

A good question. Edstock is mentioned in Genuki entry for Cannington & was mentioned in the Domesday book (see Domesday extracts) however I suspect it is one of those hamlets which has disappeared in the last hundred + years. We could take it out of the article & it definately shouldn't be a red link as it is not significant enough for its own article.— Rod talk 11:25, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It appears to have been (along with Beer) a civil parish in 1886. In 1871 it appears to have had 4 buildings (3 occupied) & in 1881 3 houses with a population of 23 (see Vision of Britain Edstock & Beer CP.— Rod talk 11:45, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Do you think it could now be called Edbrook which I've found at N51:09:27, W3:05:40 ST235403.— Rod talk 21:53, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wondered if it could have been Edbrook, my Dad was looking at the page with me and asked if it was meant to be Edbroook instead of Edstock. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RustyKnight UK (talkcontribs) 21:45, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

After a search for "Edstock Somerset" on Ask I've found several sites mentioning Edstock and Beer as part of Cannington, including http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/SOM/Cannington/index.html. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RustyKnight UK (talkcontribs) 21:55, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
