May 2007[edit]

this page should not be deleted. I am Candye Kane and all of my biography information listed here is true. (Candyekane 20:15, 19 May 2007 (UTC))[reply]

What a non sequitur -- this should not be deletes because the subject is notable. It must be re-written, due to original research, a conflict of interest and an admitted autobiography. I'm tagging and stubbing this one. Bearian 15:59, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm taking a shot at fixing this. I'm doing my own research online and removing tags and adding material as I can get it. Yes, she's notable, but NOT the drag queen. Bearian 20:29, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the person is a singer and songwriter. "White Trash Girl" 2005, and [here]http://www.blackroserecords.net/photographs.php?photographId=83 is a picture on a site for [Black Rose Records]http://www.blackroserecords.net/index.php. The problem is self-posting. If a fan does it, it's probably OK, as long as there's documentation, no? What if a manager does it? What about a club that's booking the artist? --75.111.251.227 17:43, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality disputed[edit]

There's too much emphasis on her career as a musician, and not enough emphasis on her career as a porn star. It seems like the former is a positive thing, and that the latter is something which is being hidden by this article.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 15:23, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is because her porn career was only four years of her forty two on the planet. far more of her life has been spent as a musician and mother. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Candyekane (talkcontribs) 05:08, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As a fan, I would say that majority of people today know her more as a blues singer, and the fact that this article has an emphasis on her career as a singer is natural, only reflecting the status as is. I would say that we needn't discuss any further and just drop this claim. Cheers, --Sumori (talk) 03:54, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldnt say that most of the people that know OF Kane today, would know her specifically as a blues singer. She was one of the top nude models, and certainly one of the best known large models in the world of nude modeling. Her magazines and films from her porn-era command top prices at conventions and Ebay. She was voted by fans as one of the top 50 "Big breast" models of the century. To this day, I would venture to guess that her porn fans still outnumber her music fans by a ratio of 2 to 1. Just because she only modelled for 4 years, doesnt mean that peiod in her live will not overshadow the other 40. Look at nude models such as Roberta Pedon. She only posed for a few years in the late 60s early 70s, but she is still much remembered. Same with many other nude models that went on to bigger and better things. Unfortunately for Candye, she was a featured artist in mags such as GENT, which had a huge readership and influence far beyond its small size. I myself have some of those mags, and I must say, aside from her naturally voluptuous, sensuous, and curvaceous build, of which few women of the era (or even today) could match, she had and continues to have a remarkable facial beauty and complexion. I'm not kidding. If you get a hold of one of those mags, you will find yourself looking more at her face than the other stuff....well, maybe. I mean, if a person wants to not have that part of her career included in Wikipedia, hmmmmm...I dont know. Would that be journalistically honest? Would it be ethical? Maybe a small section, with just a passing mention. I dont see what big deal is, unless she is experiencing some real heavy remorse and regret, embarassment? Then its a matter of politeness on behalf of the individual posters to honor her wishes. Funny thing, a couple of my friends had moms who modeled nude in the 60s, and they sure as heck wouldnt want that known. I anycase...She is a great singer, one of the best , in my book. Man, she can really belt them out. She has certainly added many good and wonderful pages to the book of rock and blues. Garagehero (talk) 20:53, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The comments by the above editor indicate why this article was lousy with WP:POV. Editors should read WP:BLP, WP:BIO and WP:NOTABILITY and understand that Wikipedia is not a blogsite or a fansite. It is an encyclopaedia, not a refuse dump for promotional material, personal opinions, name dropping and other cruft. I scaled down the article but it still has too many many red-links. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 00:05, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Theres too much emphasis in these disputes (her skin tone!) and on former wikipedia entries on her porn career that was only a brief time period.

Kane has had a much longer career in music than she had in porn. Though she is featured in Taschens Coffee Table Book, The Big Book of Breasts (www.amazon.com) most of her work in the porn industry is unavailable and obsolete. She has been nominated for four National Blues Foundation Awards (www.blues.org) for Best Contemporary Blues Female 2010, Best Contemporary Blues CD for Superhero (Deltagroove) 2010 and Best Contemporary Blues CD for Guitar'd and Feathered 2008. She tours over 250 days a year. She is included in the House of Blues compilation 30 Essential Women of the Blues, Rolling Stone Magazines Guide to Jazz and Blues (see Amazon. com for citations) and the Musichound guides to Jazz and Blues. As a songwriter, Kane has received honorable mention in the Billboard song contest and her cd Superhero debuted at #10 on the Billboard blues charts in July 2009. These are all facts. They are not promotional items.

Someone's done a major whitewash on this article, removing the items about her porn career, for which she's much more notable than her self-promoted, very low-selling music cd's. I suspect that, as was done a couple of other times on this article, that her promoters have edited the article removing what they don't want 'the world to know' - as if they don't already. Major POV issues here. 68.19.7.65 (talk) 07:22, 17 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

removing POV tag with no active discussion per Template:POV[edit]

I've removed an old neutrality tag from this page that appears to have no active discussion per the instructions at Template:POV:

This template is not meant to be a permanent resident on any article. Remove this template whenever:
  1. There is consensus on the talkpage or the NPOV Noticeboard that the issue has been resolved
  2. It is not clear what the neutrality issue is, and no satisfactory explanation has been given
  3. In the absence of any discussion, or if the discussion has become dormant.

Since there's no evidence of ongoing discussion, I'm removing the tag for now. If discussion is continuing and I've failed to see it, however, please feel free to restore the template and continue to address the issues. Thanks to everybody working on this one! -- Khazar2 (talk) 15:35, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Year of birth correct?[edit]

Both German (until a moment ago) and French Wikipedia as well as sites like Allmusic or Discogs have 1965 as year of birth. Is there a reason why the English version makes her 4 years older? And why is there no mention that her cancer was back in 2011? - 2003:70:CE36:F23:F8D7:F874:DD08:74A0 (talk) 09:37, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

So grab some Reliably Sourced material, and edit the article with the material you feel is missing. Now that she is dead, there should be less conflicts from her management coming onto the site and white-washing it. 98.67.1.229 (talk) 20:56, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nyook - you are becoming a pest[edit]

Look, the fact that she is an adult film star (an ICON, actually) is beyond dispute. I don't care if her son keeps coming on here wiping out sourced information - she is primarily known for her adult film work. When an editor is in-session, just leave a msg and quit reverting - you are on the verge of a revert-war - and the next step would be ANI. Knock it off. 50.111.59.129 (talk) 08:13, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
