Re:Southern Terminus

I got the informationa bout the southern terminus and summit road both by driving it and referring to yahoo maps: Maps. Mapquest doens't show the 35 number, but yahoo! maps does, and by driving i['ve seen the 35 signs on the roads? - User:Atanamir

California Streets and Highway Code. Section 335. [1]

Route 35 is from:
  (a) Route 17 at Summit Road to Route 92 via Skyline Boulevard.
  (b) Route 92 to Route 280 at Bunker Hill Drive.
  (c) Route 280 via Skyline Boulevard to Route 1 in San Francisco.

However, just because Highway 35 legally goes to Highway 17, it does not necessarily mean that it is signed from Highway 9. As stated near the top of List of California state highways:

Many California highways have strange discontinuities in terms of the legal definition of their routes, which are not always accurately reflected in signage or maps.

[2] clearly shows it using Summit Road, like Google Maps shows. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 07:21, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Routing north of SR 92

[4] (1920) shows that the original plan was to continue along the ridge - though not the watershed boundary - to the current route near Pacifica. --NE2 00:04, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

1933 defination

Wasn't SR 35 once used on San Gabriel River Pkwy present I-605 in Los Angeles-Orange County? From this site, it's what I've learnt. --Freewayguy What's up? 21:26, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

History

Currently we say:

HistoryAs old highway maps show, State Route 35 was originally designated State Route 5. The number was changed in the 1964 renumbering. The original state route 35 ran north to south from State Route 22 to U.S. 99, first along Los Alamitos Blvd. going north which turns into Norwalk Blvd. The highway continued west on Centralia Road and then north along Pioneer Blvd. until hiting San Antonio drive at Rosecrans Ave. San Antonio Dr. would turn back into Norwalk blvd. and Route 35 would continue turning into Old Mill Road at Beverly Blvd. Route 35 would wind through Rose Hills and Avocado Heights and would then turn into Puente Ave. at Valley Blvd. and continue to Route 99 where Route 35 ended at the border of Baldwin Park and West Covina.

The first two sentences make sense but then the description seems to move about 300 miles south to the LA area. Either Skyline is a lot longer than I thought or this should be deleted or moved.Desoto10 (talk) 02:02, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

This is correct. The original state route 35 was in Southern California. --Rschen7754 02:42, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
I get it now. I added that the original was in the LA area.Desoto10 (talk) 03:38, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

When was it built?

It was renamed in 1964, but when was it built? Bod (talk) 01:38, 18 August 2018 (UTC)

Southern terminus

The southern terminus doesn't seem to be at Highway 17, I confirmed that first-hand today. It doesn't run along Summit Road at all, either. The problem is that no two maps seem to agree with where it actually begins. Can someone find a way to confirm where the southern teminus is?
