Split?[edit]

I rewrote the textual portions of this article, although it's still not terribly good. Still, I'd suggest splitting the list into a separate article. Dan Villiom Podlaski Christiansen (talk) 22:45, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done. But the article remains quite technical and unsourced. Dan Villiom Podlaski Christiansen (talk) 09:50, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

speed[edit]

speed of cable is upto 400mbit/s, and is sold to people in the Netherlands upto 120mbit/s http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DOCSIS#Speed_Table Markthemac (talk) 17:08, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Filtering?[edit]

has anyone heard of the filtering on the cable tv to prevent the extra channels messing with the internet? Please, I'd like to know. 72.220.125.86 (talk) 22:09, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

History?[edit]

This article needs the date or at least the year of when cable internet was first offered to the public. (Mentac (talk) 20:38, 7 April 2015 (UTC))[reply]

"Gigabit speeds are becoming available."[edit]

I think this needs more details about where this is happening because it doesn't reflect all providers' abilities to actively bring out such speeds everywhere they serve. FosterHaven (talk) 11:34, 1 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

this is what wikipedia calls "weasel words" - unclear language. This needs clearing up - especially the time when and the places where. And sources Digitalhamster (talk) 18:03, 17 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How to improve the article[edit]

Here is what is needed to improve the article:

  • History section, starting with it's history the U.S. where it was first adopted. later we can add info when other countries got it, for those that have it.
  • Info on shared cable internet lines - There are some cable systems in certain cities where you can subscribe to cable internet service from an ISP other then the cable company itself, much like how their are third-party DSL providers like Covad and Sonic that lease telco lines.
  • Info on cable internet service outside the U.S. such as Canada.
  • The article needs a picture of at least a cable modem for illustration.
  • A better summery of the info on cable modem hardware.
  • A list of Cable internet providers in the U.S. would be useful. (Comcast, Time-Warner, Cox, etc.)
