a new page, in need of work[edit]

I proposed some sections, but there is still lots of work to be done. First, we need to find some places that we could link to this page, so it gets some visibility. Second, I want to expand the introduction. Third, some more trivia. Fourth, sources.I will be doing some more research and adding much more information. --rocketrye12 talk/contribs 03:21, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd recommend going easy on the trivia until you have a more substantive article. ALso, not sure what's there is trivia, maybe should just be worked into the narrative.Tvoz | talk 06:14, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

name change[edit]

I moved it to Bronx gangs (mid-twentieth century), please mind your capitalization. Unless you also plan on making an article for the early 20th century, I'd suggest you leave of 'mid'. And I think using full years instead of century description is better. Consider: Bronx gangs (mid-20th century) or something like Bronx gangs (1940s-1960s). - Mgm|(talk) 05:47, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

this was in the HelpDesk when I had the article's name changed. What do you think?--rocketrye12 talk/contribs 04:55, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

overall[edit]

Sorry, didn't see this discussion - I changed the name to Bronx gangs (1950s-1960s) because that is specifically what is being discussed. I removed the references to Brooklyn gangs in popular culture - does not make any sense to have them there - this article is not about Brooklyn. I left in Mean Streets temporarily, but I am pretty sure that the Little Italy it depicted was Manhattan's, and therefore it should be out as well. If you want to have a "See also" section where wiki articles on bklyn etc gang-related movies, etc are handled, I guess you could, but I didn't particularly feel the need so I didn't. I added a stub to stave off the CSD folks - the article does need fleshing out, but as a stub you should be given some time to do so. FInally, since when was DeWitt Clinton "docile"??? Not in my memory! I left it, but recommend changing that line. I'm kind of busy so don't know if I can do much here, but if I come across things that are relevant, I'll add them. from the originator[edit]

I agree with and understand all the changes. I do think a cross-reference to similar Brooklyn movies (and Mean Streets) makes sense, but as a Wiki neophyte and busy guy, I don't have the time to do it. Indeed, I started this at someone else's suggestion, with the understanding that s/he would pick up from there. The 2 external links that I supplied give a lot more detail and documentation, and I suggest that the next editor of this piece start there. It could more than double in size at that point. It was late when I wrote that quick note above - I should have also said that this a good beginning of what could be a fun article. Hopefully others will come along and add to it, especially if there are other Bronx folk wandering around (couldn't resist) from that era. Best wishes - sorry if I was abrupt up above. no problem. I'm onboard.--rocketrye12 talk/contribs 23:31, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
NP. I wasn't upset, just overloaded. BTW, what are the capitalization rules for Wiki article names? Bellagio99 15:24, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I believe Tvoz was having that discussion with someone, or maybe not. As far as I know, only proper nouns are capitalized, along with first words of articles

Fordham Daggers[edit]

When I lived in the Bronx, prior to 1953 - there was a gang called the Fordham Daggers. I was too young to know much about them, except that everyone was afraid of them.

What is this?[edit]

I read the article twice and I still have no idea what most of it was talking about. 71.184.65.20 (talk) 19:53, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hot Boyz?[edit]

That can't possibly be a real gang. Someone please remove this, its a rap music term. Or cite a source, of course. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.32.229.106 (talk) 11:31, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hairy Baldies[edit]

Baldies didn't shave their heads and in reality wore Ducks Ass hairdoos like The Fonz and were named after bald eagles?

Well, I once carved a marzipan voodoo effigy of The Fonz after smoking some Bolivian prayer hash at Sammy Davis Jr.'s house. He had hair just like mussolini in real life, and I'm the princess of canada although I can't offically back that up with paperwork.

The fordam baldies aka belmont baldies aka baldie mob shaved their heads as far back as the 1940's and hung out at a candy store on belmont between 189th and fordham.

Unlike the idiotic movie the wanderers, however, they didn't have any blacks in the gang, they went around to other neighborhoods to see if they could find some to beat up.
