I'll review this. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 17:21, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Images are appropriately tagged, assuming that Nightscream and Luigi Novi are the same person as they appear to be from the tagging. Earwig finds no issues; sources are reliable -- FN 97 is a blog but is OK for what it's used for.

  • I'm not sure there's anything wrong, but I'm confused by the difference between the address, given as 1681 Broadway in the lead, and the fact that the facade is part of 1675 Broadway, implying it's part of that building. Is it a single building with multiple addresses?
    • Well, technically yes. The building is known as 1675 Broadway, and the entrance to the building's offices is at that address. However, the theater occupies a different part of the building, which has a separate address at 1681 Broadway. Epicgenius (talk) 21:59, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • "The seven-story theater entrance on Broadway": surely the entrance is not seven storeys high? Should this be something like "The building's seven-story facade on Broadway, where the theater's entrance is,"?
  • "There was mixed architectural criticism": should be "reception", unless there were different kinds of criticism.
  • "Following these modifications, the stage also had three lifts." I don't know what this means.
  • "The Colony Theatre on 53rd Street was developed as a movie palace": since this is the first mention of the original name in the body, suggest making this "The Colony Theatre, as the first incarnation of the Broadway Theatre was known, was developed on 53rd Street as a movie palace...".
  • "The Shuberts acquired the 25-foot-wide (7.6 m) plot at the corner of Broadway and 53rd Street in mid-1946": seems a non sequitur.
    • This detail is included because the theater occupied two plots; the majority of the theater was on an "L"-shaped plot that the Shubert owned outright. The Shuberts' "L"-shaped site wrapped around this corner plot, which was already occupied by the theater; however, the Shuberts leased that plot from the owners. If the owners of that site chose to cancel the Shuberts' lease for some reason, that part of the theater might've needed to be demolished. Luckily, this wasn't the case because the Shuberts actually bought the corner lot as well, hence why this little detail is included. Epicgenius (talk) 21:59, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Spotchecks:

  • FN 182 cites "The theater hosted ... Martha Graham's dance troupe in 1962": verified.
  • FN 23 cites 'according to The New York Times, "the theatre was gutted until only its four walls remained."': verified.

@Mike Christie: Thanks for the review. I have addressed all of these issues now. Epicgenius (talk) 21:59, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The fixes are all good. The only remaining issue for me is the address; two different addresses in the lead is going to confuse more readers than just me. Can we put some kind of note, either as a footnote or a parenthetical explanation, after the second address is mentioned, which is the point at which the reader will otherwise be surprised? Address issue fixed; passing. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 20:02, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
