Rockcrypt[edit]

The link at rockcrypt.com is from a user-editable band list. As such, I believe it was vandalized. I checked out rockcrypt.com and found that it's a site where anyone can register and add band information. As a test, I added an entirely fictitious band, and it was accepted and posted right away. The only reference I can find to Ian Hart-Stein -- ANYWHERE -- is on rockcrypt.com (presumably as a vandalized entry) and in the vandalism entered here at Wikipedia. --E lkman - ^(talk) 20:25, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Peter Gabriel[edit]

The article currently states "John Goodsall & Phil Collins toured & recorded with singer Peter Gabriel after he left Genesis and prior to his 1st solo album." Wouldn't it be more proper to state that Goodsall and Collins "gigged" with Gabriel, since PG did not do full-on touring prior to his first album? B. Album: Livestsock[edit]

Article lists Livestock as "largely recorded at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club Aug/Sept 76". Livestock wiki page lists two songs recorded at Ronnie Scott's, two songs at Hammersmith Odeon, and one song at Marquee Club. Total time of recording at Ronnie Scott's: 18:09, total time at other venues: 21:37. "largely recorded at Ronnie Scott's..." is false.Paul444 (talk) 13:50, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disbandment(?)[edit]

Right now, the article states that Brand X broke up for good in 2021, following the death of John Goodsall. This is problematic in that, so far as I can tell, no official breakup has been announced. The article mentions, but does not properly cite, a statement made on Facebook by Percy Jones and Robin Lumley to the effect that the band name is retired. Apart from not being cited, this is problematic in that neither Jones nor Lumley were band members at the time- Jones quit the band in 2020, and Lumley has not played with Brand X since 1980, so it's not clear on what authority they were announcing the breakup. It's entirely possible that they have a stake in the band's name, or that the current band have decided to cease using the name out of respect for their wishes, but so far as I can tell, they haven't made any statements to that effect, leaving the matter in limbo. In the absence of a reliable source for the discontinuation of the band, I think this article should remain agnostic on the band's status.

There are problems with the member list page and supposed "last members" listed on the main Brand X page as well. After Jones left in 2020, he was reportedly replaced in 2021 with new bassist Ric Fierabracci; Grohowski was apparently fired in 2020, and replaced in 2021 as well, by Greyson Nekrutman. (See this band history, currently linked from the article.) Grohowski's departure, and Fierabracci's and Nekrutman's recruitment, are not mentioned anywhere on Wikipedia at the moment. Jones and Lumley have recently published an open letter on their website, which lays out a conflict between them and the group's current management- Jones and Lumley want the current group to stop using the "Brand X" name, but lack the means to force them to stop, while the current management at least implicitly wants to keep the band going as a legacy touring act. I don't think it's safe to say that Brand X is over as yet, and especially not to do so on the strength of a single primary source statement from ex-members of the band.Yspaddadenpenkawr (talk) 02:01, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
