I don't think it's necessarily about a suicide, but I do think it's about his wife who died. It's not clear whether she died from a disease of some sort (like cancer), or from something self-inflicted, but there really isn't much of an indication to sway toward either. Mike H. I'd say the line "one day when I was not at home... the angels came," even allowing for poetic license, means she died of natural causes - and suddenly. Consistent with the line "I caught her crying needlessly in the middle of the day" is that she had been notified she had something like a heart deformity that could cause sudden death at any time, and kept it from her man. But other scenarios are possible.

Why no UK chart statistics included in the Albums & Singles Discography section?[edit]

Please could you possibly include the UK chart statistics for Bobby Goldsboro in the Albums & Singles Discography section. To assist, the following singles charted for him in the UK Singles Charts:

"Honey" - Apr 1968 (no.2); "Summer (The First Time)" - Aug 1973 (no.9); "Hello Summertime" - Aug 1974 (no.14); "Honey" - (re-issue) Mar 1975 no.(2).

The disputed image is, according to the info on its file at Commons, from a "trade ad for Bobby Goldsboro's single "Goodbye To All You Women" and placed in Billboard, page 19, April 1, 1967 by United Artists Records. "Drifter"[edit]

Why wasn't "I'm a Drifter" mentioned? This is his all time #1, at least, in the U.S. Also, "Watching Scotty grow" and "Autumn of my life" were big hits, again, in the U.S. Better than downers about dying wives, blind kids. Custody Battle and Molestation Allegations[edit]

I happened to stumble on this article from 1983 that said he was denied custody of his daughter for having a pornography collection including young girls, and his daughter accused him of molesting her and a friend. Molestation Allegations[edit]

I remember hearing something about this decades ago, but it was only mentioned once on the radio, and that was it. At the time, I only heard of the allegations against him. I'm surprised the children have kept quiet about this, and that no charges were brought against him by his daughter's friend, at least. Honey (Pt. 2)[edit]

Been looking for a reference on the 'stat' that Honey was the largest selling single in 1968. Found a couple sites that say it sold over 6 million along with a stat that Hey Jude sold 'around' 6 million. Part of me feels like the claim should be made a bit more 'iffy' in nature until an acceptable source can be found. Billboard has it at no. 1 on the pop, country and easy listening charts, but no sales figures that I can find. It reminds me of the claim that Gary Lewis got the Male Vocal top award which was not true after some research and a source was found. Worth chasing?
