Untitled[edit]

I Posted a link to a page that did some description of her scenes. It´s not my site and I don´t benefit from there being a link to the site, but someone keeps deleting the link. You probably haven´t even read what is on the page that i linked to. I though this was a site where people could pool together their input on things, but apparently someone decided to play internetpolice without even checking what they are deleting :-( —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.157.181.129 (talk) 20:19, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Drive[edit]

I don't think she's in the movie. Didn't notice her, imdb doesnt list her either — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.15.23.84 (talk) 00:31, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Flowerpot man; thanks for the name capitalization; couldn't undo it anymore! 84.41.142.78 (talk) 16:55, 24 December 2007 (UTC) I think Bobbi Starr graduated from UC Berkeley. Can anyone confirm this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.149.41.201 (talk) 16:47, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

you are right I guess, see wikipedia, 'List of University of California, Berkeley alumni' (didn't check the source, an interview I've heard before, but then I missed this information/can't remember.

Cometappears (talk) 22:17, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know Bobbi personally and she graduated from another school, with a BM, not a BA. This article needs tons of cleanup and references. Vinh1313 (talk) 17:42, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

some comments and questions on recent changes[edit]

when I started this article I was surprised no one has made an article on bobbi starr before. It is good to see efforts are being made to make this article better; Bobbi deserves it! I have a few questions and comments on recent changes though:

-a shame the most important thing to be done is still left open: a picture which is not being removed by the free market adepts of wikipedia who are very busy contributing their mite help the corporate world claiming the commons. I have tried, now it'up to you guys. Place a lasting picture of the girl who gave you such fine moments!

-if it is mentioned that she plays the piano besides her favorite instrument oboe then it should also be added that she plays clarinet because Bobbi said this in her podcast interview of which the external link which seems very interesting to me on the subject, is deleted for no reason I understand;I deleted that she is talented at playing oboe; we can't verify this, although i don't doubt Bobbi of course, if she is as talented at playing oboe as playing in porn scenes, she can play in the best orchestra in the world but it was an unneccessary normative judgment)

-what her mother does is not relevant at all for this encyclopedic article -the artcile states now that she definitely stopped doing BDSM and moved over to mainstream porn (ie not BDSM)! I think that is not the case, I definitely hope not?! If so: source please!

-her eyes are brown?? I have seen that mentioned on some other site, but i've also seen it mentioned they are blue. I am not colorblind and I really see blue eyes (checked it earlier). See for a clear example POV Perverts #9. Maybe she wears lenses??

-I always find it laughable if doing porn is seen as an expression of feminism (to quote my favorite author Michel Houellebecq in his Extension du domaine de la lutte 'the last, disconcerting remaints of the decline of feminism'), although I agree with Starr that it is not degrading to women (but does this count in all cases, such as necrobabes.com? nut this is besides the point, maybe for a new article on the ethics of porn:-))but the quote was an unnecessary change I think

-my comments on her rape related scene with Brandon Iron are removed. Maybe it was not seen as relevant. I think it is. There are many more of less interchangeable pornstars and information sources as these should make clear the notable differences between them as good as possible. Also it is interesting from her career point of view. The more extreme work with Jake Malone and this scene in particular is a remarkable point in her career; she said this, in comparable words herself in the earlier mentioned podcast interview.

Readers want to know what the pornstar in question does. This article is about the pornstar Bobbi Starr, not about the woman behind this character, of which her name is even unknown to me. Anyone? There is no Bobbi Starr outside porn, so the article must concentrate (maybe the rest shoudl be removed even) on her porncareer: what has she done in general, and what, more specifically, are conspicious things she has done. It is important, because that is what it is all about: her pornwork. So a real shame the remarks about the rape scene and her doing the things with Belladonna are removed (peeing and anal fisting). Besides that: readers want to know these kind of things! And articles are written for a public, not an archive! The article is now really pale and it looks like she is just of the thousands of ordinary, forgettable pornstars in the business with nothing special. This may sound like the words of a fan, and that's true, but you can tell about her work in perfect neutral terms as I have done before.

(PS: the girl definitely does not shy away from real nasty stuff, such as doing milk enema's. In a scene which can be seen at enterbelladonna.com she even said that she has drunk piss ('tastes like tea') and that she would allow a horny dog to cum in her ass which of course we are never able to verify, let alone see.)

Some final comments on the deleted remarks on her rape scene:

I am definitely not a moral crusader. I watch dirty porn a lot and went to hookers without any problems. But when I saw the rape scene with Brandon Iron for the first time I found it a bit disturbing because the implicit potentially dangerous suggestion is that rape can be enjoyable. Normal rape scenes, although I don't like them because I want the woman to enjoy, I don't find disturbing: it is what it is. Bobbi herself called the scene "Hitchcock-esque" in the podcast-interview, ridiculous of course, comparing a porn flick with the masterworks of one of the greatest directors of the last century. She also said it was not rape which is shown, although in the scene she literally said she was raped (and that it was hot). I think this scene is an important work (in normal movies it is shown before, but I don't know of it in porn), and maybe you find me a bore here, because it shows the possibility of a blurry line between rape and willing sex, between repugnance and enjoyment. It is a new sort of porn that is interesting. Also for the same reasons as mentioned above: I think it should be shortly mentioned in the article.Cometappears (talk) 19:51, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

a correction: the external link to the podcast interview is still there, although no reference is being made to it in the article unfortanetely.

Cometappears (talk) 20:16, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Biographies must be written conservatively. Every statement about a person must be verifiable in that it is cited to a reliable secondary source. Analysis, commentary, or conclusions by an editor are considered original research and shouldn't be included in article. Currently, the article only incorporates the xrent article as the main basis of her biography. The podcast interview is more difficult to reference because it is audio so I haven't had the time to listen to it in order to incorporate it into the biography. That's why it's only currently listed as an external link. The article is still a work in progress. You are free to add information from the podcast as long as you properly cite to it. I've asked Bobbi to take a look at this also. About her eye colour, I made a mistake in putting in brown twice for her hair and eyes when it was meant to be her hair colour.Vinh1313 (talk) 22:18, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I still think that more specific information on her work should be added, which can be done in perfectly neutral terms and which is verifiable because her work is accessible to all. It would also raise the information value of the article telling people what she has done in her work and what her characteristics as a pornstar are (to be clear, it is not my intention to focus especially Cometappears (talk) 22:40, 31 December 2007 (UTC)on her more extreme work). A good thing that a fine picture is included now. Leaving the article to the purists and avoiding a probably tiresome process of adding and removing, I will add here under some more specific information.[reply]

on her work[edit]

here more additional information on her work:

acts done so far: anal, anal fisting, blindfolding, blowjob, bondage, double penetration, electro pads, enema, footjob, inserting with toys (vaginal and anal), gangbang, hogtied, lesbian, machinal fucking, peeing, rape related theme, spanking, threesome

characteristics: enthusiasm during performance, big smiles and many laughs, mostly submissive roles in BDSM acts (there are exceptions such as male penetration), non-mainstream/kinky stuff (see above)

There's two issues here. First, in addressing your previous comment, this purist is asking for citations to secondary published sources to verify things. The movies themselves are considered primary sources and are not acceptable citations to prove her laundry list. Second, I consider such a detailed laundry list as fancruft and that Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information.Vinh1313 (talk) 06:17, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Her bondage and submission scenes described in details" does not meet the needs of wikipedia, as described. I have responded to the editor's comments on my talk page as well. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 20:34, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What about the AdultDVDTalk interview? Vinh1313 (talk) 21:25, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image changes[edit]

On the 24th, the image was changed from a 2007 pic to a pic from 2009. Then on the 26th, it was changed again to one from 2010, although the caption wasn't changed to reflect this image switch. So I fixed the caption. And now, it has been changed back to the 2007 pic with an edit summary saying that there was a "picture war" and we should take it to the talk page. I don't see it as a pic war but okay...

Now that it's all recapped here, I think that we should use the most recent pic as long as it is as good or of a better quality than the older pic. Good? Dismas|(talk) 08:12, 27 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Height and Weight[edit]

Whatever is stated in that "personal bio", is wrong.

Her height is 6 ft (183 cm), her weight is 154 (70 kg) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.0.85.73 (talk) 08:03, 20 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Acceptable sources for real name?[edit]

IMDB lists one. Is that acceptable per WP:BLP? Arbor to SJ (talk) 00:33, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nope. See Wikipedia:External links/Perennial websites#IMDb re: IMDB as a reliable source. Nymf talk to me 09:03, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Non-notable awards[edit]

I realize the temptation to fill the awards section with anything, but without sources clearly demonstrating they deserve mention, non-notable awards should not be listed with only primary sources or announcements. --Ronz (talk) 16:08, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

At some point, we need to get larger consensus on how to address this. Edit-warring over these concerns has been going on for years with little discussion. See Talk:Brandi_Love#Awards. --Ronz (talk) 16:38, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mention of non-notable awards in pornography articles[edit]

There is a discussion on how to address non-notable awards in pornography articles: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Pornography#Mention_of_non-notable_awards_in_articles. We'd appreciate help creating consensus on when and how such awards are mentioned in pornography biographies and related articles. Thank you. --Ronz (talk) 16:11, 13 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
