I really don't see why his page was changed from a redirect to Blu-ray disc. There is no information here which is not presented in original redirect. Qarnos 11:53, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have decided to revert the page back to the original redirect. I have found no evidence that the term "Blue Ray" is used to refer to HD DVD. The Blu-ray Disc article also includes a link to HD DVD in the first paragraph. It seems a no-brainer to me that anyone who searches for Blue Ray is looking for the article Blu-ray Disc. "Blue ray" is simply the technology that is being used, and both Blu-ray disc and HD DVD are using blue ray. You are saying that people who want to look for cola should be automatically redirects to Coca Cola. I don't find that fair, hence I'm reverting it back. Fact: HD DVD uses "Blue ray" technology, and anyone who is looking for Blu-ray Disc will still find the information that they need. - I really need to get myself a wikipedia account...

Blu-ray currently redirects to "Blu-ray Disc". I was about to flag this article for merger, but now I see there is something of a dispute. I have only heard the term "blue ray" in reference to the specific format. Does anyone have any references which show the broader usage? On further investigation, I can't find anyone referring to 'blue ray' to mean any ole blue-violet optics system. Please provide sources for this. Otherwise the redirect seems more logical. Wikipedia should aid users find information. If no one is going to search for blue ray intending to find HD DVD, then this page is little more than an advertisement that says "ooh, ooh! HD DVD uses blue-violet lasers too!". And anyway, that fact is addressed in the opening section of both the HD DVD and Blu-ray articles anyway. Audiodude 19:02, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've been reading all the news regarding Blu-ray and HD-DVD and the only times that "Blue-ray" has been in the articles is when there has been an obvious spelling mistake. I think this should just change back to a redirect to Blu-ray. Drjt87 14:24, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the redirect back to Blu-ray Disc. HD-DVD does not use "blue-ray" in any sense. HD-DVD uses blue laser technology. There is no term "blue-ray".The Goat 16:43, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe your not very smart, but a blue laser makes a blue ray.

Blue ray and Blu-Ray are two different things as mentioned above. It needs to STOP being redirected to blu-ray, which uses a blue ray, just like other technologies do.Dvferret (talk) 03:22, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some people just want to inhibit readers from accessing Blu-Ray Disc. This is silly. Blue ray needs to redirect to Blu-Ray Disc.

People who want to know about red lasers do not search for "red ray".
People who want to know about blue lasers do not search for "blue ray".
Approximately 99.999% of people who search for "blue ray" want to know about Blu-Ray Disc.
There little to no laser technology on google accessible by "blue ray -blu", rather you need to search for "blue laser".
