Tongue

I remember reading somewhere that biltong was made from an animal's tongue. However, there's no reference to this in the article. Is this true, or not? Stonemason89 (talk) 15:41, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Not true. It probably comes from misunderstanding the etymology, taking "tong" too literally. The tong part of the name simply describes the tongue-like appearance of the strips of meat. Roger (talk) 19:20, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
