Just in case the prod or an AFD comes back: this subject is quite notable indeed. He has an entry in the New Grove, with a fairly substantial bibliography of hard-copy reliable sources, including Chilton's Who's Who of Jazz (1970). Antandrus (talk) 03:13, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the tags added by NoVomit; the article cites two sources (one of which is the Grove, above) and the article plainly states several ways in which Peyton meets WP:MUSIC, even given that the requirements were created to deal with rock'n'roll-era pop music and not black jazz musicians from the 1920s. If further work is needed, please explain here in more detail. Chubbles (talk) 03:20, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Can you add the reference to one of the statements made? It would help to prove notability that way. NoVomit (talk) 03:19, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It has come to my attention that you are new. I suggest familiarizing yourself with the notability guidelines for music, at WP:MUSIC, before seeking further deletion in this area. Chubbles (talk) 03:26, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There just weren't any inline citations. Would be nice if someone could add some. NoVomit (talk) 03:37, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, feel free if you've got access to a library. I put up stubby articles on several hundred jazz musicians over the course of the first half of this year, hoping that eventually enthusiasts would come along and flesh them out better. That'll probably take a lot longer than I'd hoped, but I was really just trying to get the ball rolling, plant some seeds. Chubbles (talk) 03:41, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
