Contested deletion[edit]

Comment DoubleGrazing Earwig gives 10% and 30% on two sites, and I can't see that it's a copy of the page you've linked either, so i've declined the G12 for now. Have I missed something? Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:44, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@No such user, @Jimfbleak: the 2nd para ("Sellers came to America...") seems to be cobbled together from this source, and the 2nd sentence of the 1st para from this. Remove those, and it's debatable whether there's a viable draft left, hence why I asked for G12 rather than revdel. That's a big "meh" from me. Two sentences of overly close paraphrasing that could be solved with normal editing, and G12 would be akin to using an ballistic missile to kill a mosquito. Do we require all drafts to be perfect? No such user (talk) 09:12, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@DoubleGrazing, No such user, and Lauraachilders:, Double grazing, I see what you are getting at now, although stitching together facts from different parts of a text is harder to evaluate than just copying a block of text. One certainly should check for copyvios. But when you find only two sentences carelessly copied (and not even in its entirety), taking a gentle word with the author would be much preferred to tagging the entire article with G12 and leaving a scarying template on their talk page. As a new user I must admit I was a little scared! But I have since attempted to improve this through copy edits and linking to even more sources. I have a recent fascination with this stained glass artist so it would be cool to see the page succeed -- totally receptive to further feedback!
