Why is he called Beaver?[edit]

"It is during the course of the last episode the viewer learns how Beaver got his nickname. " Could someone please finish this paragraph with the reason? Throckmorton Guildersleeve (talk) 13:57, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Millions of people look to Wikipedia to answer this question. There is no answer. Mo one knows why he is called "Beaver." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.248.108.114 (talk) 23:00, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Did they ever reveal Theodore's middle name? I used to be pretty sure that it was "Roosevelt," which makes some sense, though I've never been able to confirm it by watchying random shows. WHPratt (talk) 03:39, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In a Season One episode, it is stated that the nickname came about because, as a small child, big brother Wally couldn't pronounce "Theodore," and it came out "Beaver." Mike L Smith (talk) 12:50, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dirty Nickname[edit]

Were the producers aware that the name "Beaver Cleaver" sounds very dirty, and chose the name as an intentional double entendre (similar to Hooterville)? Or was it just an unfortunate coincidence? Stonemason89 (talk) 23:09, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

The result of the proposal was move to Beaver Cleaver per discussion as a common form of the name and in conformity with WP:STAGENAME, applicable by analogy.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:29, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Theodore Cleaver → ? – Before commenting, I must remind you not to use WP:Naming conventions (people) because it does not apply to fictional characters. In the show and non-primary sources, this character from Leave It to Beaver is always called "Beaver". Therefore, "Beaver" must be part of the title. Should the name be Beaver Cleaver or Theodore "Beaver" Cleaver? George Ho (talk) 05:30, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I would support a move to Theodore "Beaver" Cleaver in light of the common name of the fictional character. bd2412 T 20:37, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Beaver Cleaver. Red Slash 23:46, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Beaver Cleaver. While NCP doesn't apply directly to fictional persons, if we can have a perfectly good name that still conforms to it, I don't see why we shouldn't use it. --BDD (talk) 19:48, 26 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Beaver's Friends[edit]

The list should include Richard Rickover, who was Beavers best friend for the last two or three seasons, replacing Larry Mondello when Rusty Stevens left the show. Especially considering Gilbert is listed, and while they were friends, they started out as enemies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.180.92.37 (talk) 10:59, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've added Rickover to the list of Beaver's friends, although putting with Larry Mondello seemed a bit odd. Maybe there should be a separate list for friends who appeared later in the series. Dhtwiki (talk) 23:41, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
