Actor/actress[edit]

@Wgolf: Regarding this, my understanding of the gendered professions is that there's flexibility in the MOS for using either. Am I wrong on that? — Rhododendrites talk \\ 03:26, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia entries for those in the acting profession have followed the examples indicated within the profession itself. Starting with the Academy Awards which spotlight Academy Award for Best Actor and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor as well as Academy Award for Best Actress and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, to the Golden Globe Awards, which also indicate gender-specific (Best Actor, Best Actress) awards, such forms are the industry standard. Within Wikipedia, we have Category:Actors, with numerous sub-categories as well as Category:Actresses, with analogous sub-categories, thus enabling easily-recognizable sorting and negating the commingling of all performers into one super-category. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 00:09, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
