Early history[edit]
The early history of this article looks highly suspect - I understand the Bank of Athens to have been founded by British Greeks of the Diaspora long before the claimed founding date of 1893... In the UK's National Archive there is correspondence on the Bank of Athens dating back to 1861 (e.g. PRO 30/22/24 protection of Bank of Athens - dated 1861 Nov. 26) Ephebi (talk) 08:38, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
-The 1922 International Banking Directory (accessed via Google Books), gives the founding as 1894. There may well have been an earlier bank by the same name that became defunct before 1894. Acad Ronin (talk) 13:26, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
