Name spelling[edit]

Why is he spelt as Bakhodir? Even if it's from Cyryllic, his name is written with ҳ, not х. And even more, Uzbek language uses Latin script too, so it should be left intact - Bahodir. Avtandil (talk) 17:13, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That only means, that these sources are careless and not trustful in this aspect. Every name written in original in Latin alphabet MUST remain as it is in the original language. But if it is, like You claim, why f.e. Wojciech Szczęsny is written with ę, although most sources simplifies it to Szczesny? Why is [[Jan Heřmánek] written with correct ř, although in the only cited source it's r? Ljubiša Simić in the only given source is Ljubisa Simic. These examples are countless. But Uzbekistan is treated, as it was still a part of Soviet Empire, and their names are transcribed from cyryllic, despite the Latin is used. What You say, is good for the countries using non-Latin scripts only. Where the Latin script exists, no change to the name is possible, even if these, who write the sources, are not competent enough. And even (WP:COMMONNAME) states clearly: "inaccurate names for the article subject (...) are often avoided even though they may be more frequently used by reliable sources". It seems correct to me, to start the text with "Bakhodir Isomiddin Ugli Jalolov (Uzbek: Bahodir Jalolov Isomiddin oʻgʻli, [...]" Then, the english and uzbek versions of his name remain clear. I'm not commenting whether it's nessecary to translate a foreign name in Latin alphabet into english in Latin alphabet, but apparently even Jalolov itself does so, so it's a fact.
