Contradiction?
The text says: Originally the Compagnie Financière de Paris et des Pays-Bas (Finance Corporation of Paris and the Netherlands), the Compagnie Financière de Paribas became simply Paribas in 1998 after acquiring the Compagnie Bancaire. How is this compatible with the fact that the original deviser of the name Paribas is the Flemish artist and entrepreneur Bobbejaan Schoepen, who invented the name in the beginning of the 60s? Fair use rationale for Image:BNP Paribas logo.gif
Image:BNP Paribas logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

I've rated the company "Top" on the importance scale, the rationale being that is is one of the largest banks in Europe, as well as ranked 25th in the Fortune Global 500. If anyone disagrees, I'll be happy to discuss. --Gimlei (talk to me) 12:18, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
History
The first paragraph of "history" mentions two institutions which are not subsequently named and thus seem to have nothing whatsoever to do with BNP Paribas. Can someone connect the first paragraph with any of the institutions mentioned in the second paragraph or later? C. Cerf (talk) 20:43, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
BNP Paribas exposure to the PIIGS debt?
I'm kind of shocked that there is no mention of the fact BNP Paribas has the highest exposure to debts of the so called PIIGS countries. This seems a major omission.
