Avishai Cohen Trio[edit]

It would be important to distinguish between Avishai as a person and the Trio as his main act (discography especially). I've made a temporary attempt to clear things up in the very end of the body text, but something better would not be bad.  ITAL 14:50, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In the Hebrew page he was born on 1971 and not 1970

I agree, as far as I thought Avishai Cohen Trio released only Gently Disturbed, on that release the drummer was Mark Guiliana.
Find amazing that his name is not quoted as he's an important part of the album that brought Avishai Cohen Trio all around the globe.
As I'm total noob in Wikipedia modification, I just let this comment here so it exists, I won't touch the article itself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.120.106.216 (talk) 12:54, 30 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Trumpet player Avishai Cohen[edit]

There is another Israeli jazz musician called Avishai Cohen, as if one wouldn't be enough. I have no idea of his notability, but his official homepage is at http://www.avishaicohenmusic.com. Should we put up a hatnote on top of the page? Something like

maybe? – Adrian Lozano (talk) 00:00, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you're absolutely right. скоморохъ 00:49, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a "Not to be confused with" for the trumpeter Cohen and bassist Cohen pages. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sloth-Jaw (talkcontribs) 06:42, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Genre Specification[edit]

why is one of his genres labeled as pop? Personally, I think the genres listed should be jazz, latin, and jazz fusion, but if there's verification that Avishai recorded pop music i won't change it. 24.18.137.95 (talk) 03:29, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shaot Regishot from 2008, I think, at least in part does qualify as "pop". 95.215.157.66 (talk) 14:57, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some critics say that Cohen's works don't fit into any particular genre and take influences from, funk, pop, swing, Afro, Latin, and others, but this should still be verified more thoroughly.

Razdaz Recordz[edit]

I've added info of Razdaz records, the label founded by Cohen. I added artists that have worked under the label as well as some general album information. Right now it's short, but if more info on each artist is added this section could easily get off topic, in which case it could be placed somewhere else. Maybe its own page?

albums[edit]

I'm planning on going into his specific albums from Razdaz records, but I may not finish it all. I may finish Lyla in the next while, however. I was planning on placing info on the reception and musical characteristics of each album, as well as the musicians who worked on them. Right now it's under its own heading. If you think it should be formatted differently feel free to change it.

I'm having trouble finding expert reviews and analysis on any of his albums. Right now there's some token information under the Lyla heading, but if we can't take it any farther, we should consider removing it completely. Right now it almost reads like an extension of the Razdaz Recordz section, which was not what I intended. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sloth-Jaw (talkcontribs) 07:46, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sloth-Jaw, I support your view: the Lyla section stands a little bit forlorn right now, being the only section about a Cohen album (at first sight, this almost seems to suggest that he has only published one album). Merging it into the Razdaz Recordz section might be a wise course of action for the time being.

I'm not a regular wikieditor, and in truth, don't even know how to edit (it took me a while to find this page). But I'm hoping someone more tech-savvy than I will see this and note that the link to Cohen's "Duende" album probably should NOT redirect to the main page for the band Killing Joke. 129.170.97.162 (talk) 17:01, 20 November 2013 (UTC)Tim[reply]

Looks like this got solved long ago.--johayek (talk) 16:14, 30 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unused sources don't belong in the external links section but they do belong here[edit]

These sources do not belong in External links. I have moved the link farm from there to this talk page where they do belong. Warning: I didn't check them to see if they follow criteria per WP policy, so be careful in choosing any potential references I've moved here. The first link is dead indeed. But the three archived links are redundant as the original links are still working. Marking |check=failed. − Pintoch (talk) 16:03, 22 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Into the Silence[edit]

As far as I know, "Into the Silence" was recorded by the trumpeter Avishai Cohen. --94.221.57.197 (talk) 19:25, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You are right. It is correctly listed here: Avishai Cohen (trumpeter)#As_leader --johayek (talk) 13:14, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
