Better Documentation Needed For Timeline[edit]

Other than the The Times article, there is little context into the funding and development timeline for this project. There are also three listed entities- Aventus Protocol, Aventus Foundation, and Aventus Systems- that share co-founders and a relationship to the AVT token. More work is needed in the crypto space to educate the general public on this kind of entity profusion as it is not uncommon for crypto projects.

Is there a Wikipedia policy on citing white papers? It seems promotional, however, in lieu of other research-based publications for crypto projects, white papers provide valuable context on a project's intentions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Betanote4 (talkcontribs) 02:59, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Another possible source, CNBC covered a study published by Aventus [1] Also seems borderline promotional so opening it up for discussion before including. Betanote4 (talk) 12:51, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Update on Aventus Protocol information[edit]

Please may I request permission to update this Article, as the information contained herein is outdated User = Avril - Leigh --Avril - Leigh (talk) 14:40, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Avril - Leigh, you need to suggest edits here on the talk page. Use either the Wizard or the {{edit COI}} template (without the nowiki tags), whichever is easiest for you. Remember to provide sources - anything put out by the company (press releases, company website, etc.) can be used to make limited, factual, non-controversial updates, but not much more than that. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 15:13, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have updated on the wizard that I am paid by Aventus.. This is the information that I need to put on this page now:
Aventus Protocol
General Information
Aventus is a  layer-2 blockchain protocol that brings scalability, lower costs, and speed to Ethereum transactions.
Ethereum has scalability issues that make it a victim of its own success. As the blockchain network of choice for most businesses, its maximum transaction throughput is wildly insufficient in meeting demand. The economics of supply and demand have thus skyrocketed transaction fees making them prohibitively expensive.
The Aventus Network (AvN) solves that problem by letting businesses build on top of the Ethereum network with Aventus’ second-layer protocol. With the AvN, applications can easily work with any other promising blockchain tech, cross-chain, by plugging into the Polkadot ecosystem, building on Substrate.
Benefits of Aventus:
Scale
The Aventus Network (AvN) can theoretically scale to 2,000 transactions per second. This is 133 times more than Ethereum.
Price
The average transaction cost on the Aventus Network will begin at just $0.01 (paid in AVT) and decrease over time. This is 99% cheaper than the average Ethereum transaction fee over the past year.
Speed
The AvN will process a token transfer within 0.13 seconds. This is 100 times faster than the Ethereum blockchain.
Enterprise Grade
The AvN has so far onboarded over 14 million client transactions that have been active in private test networks throughout the past year.
Key Use Cases
Financial Assets
Supply Chains
Rewards and Loyalty
Live Entertainment
Data Integrity
Decentralised Applications

@Avril - Leigh, the Edit Request Wizard - here is another link to it - is not just for declaring your paid editing status (though it has a button for doing that), it is also for making edit requests. It will post them on the correct page for you and add your request to the queue so editors will see it. Otherwise you'd need to use {{request edit}}, which is trickier to do (there are instructions here).
I can tell you right now that a request like the one above would not be implemented. If there are specific sentences in the article you want changed, it's best to write "Change this sentence: [blah de blah] to this sentence: [de blah de], supported by this source: [source]." If there are facts you want added, then write: "Add this sentence: [blah de blah] after this sentence [de blah de], supported by this source: [source]." The sources provided would have to meet our criteria; I'm not sure how good the above ones are - the section here about crypto sources isn't very encouraging. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 15:03, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you kindly for helping me.. what was meant as an easy update task has turned into a nightmare and very technical.. the entire article needs to be changed, its not just a change to one or two sentences.. Avril - Leigh (talk) 15:11, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Avril - Leigh, I don't think anyone is going to agree to changing the entire article, especially to the heavily promotional version above, though you're free to submit such a request. The current version does need sources to back up some of its statements, but it has The Times and The Guardian as a backbone, which are excellent. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 15:19, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Morning, please can you assist me.. where do I submit the request to change this entire article? Or would it better to take down that page and start a brand new page? Avril - Leigh (talk) 07:03, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Avril - Leigh:
1. Go to the Edit Request Wizard: link
2. Click on the "I'm being paid to edit" button
3. Go to the section titled "For large requests", enter the article name (Aventus Protocol) and click on "Create edit request"
4. Fill out your answers to the questions posed (What I think should be changed/Why it should be changed/References supporting the possible change)
5. Click on "Publish changes"
The existing article has already been proposed for deletion once and was kept. I don't know if a second attempt would be successful, but trying to immediately recreate it afterwards would definitely fail. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 13:30, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
ok thank you for your assistance.. I will follow your steps tomorrow early when I have less distractions.. Avril - Leigh (talk) 14:32, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Telegraph source[edit]

I removed The Telegraph source because Alan Vey and Annika Monari the owners of the business, wrote the article meaning it is not independent. Theroadislong (talk) 16:17, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Update on Aventus Protocol information[edit]

  • What I think should be changed (include citations): The entire article needs to be updated as the company has evolved and changed from 2017 to what it is now.
  • Why it should be changed: As mentioned above the entire article is outdated and does not represent or support what Aventus is today. Must we rather take down this page and create a new one?
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

"Coindesk" "Globenewswire" "TechRound" "Financial Post" "Yahoo Sport" "Bitcoin Insider" "Crypto Insider" "Coinstack News" "Ethereum Today" "Crypto News" "Forkast"

Avril - Leigh (talk) 07:11, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. ;; Maddy ♥︎(they/she)♥︎ :: talk  21:47, 28 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Maddy.. The entire page needs to change all the information is outdated and no longer a true reflection of what Aventus is today. So X is Article as it stands needs to change to Y - which I posted previously in this talk page..
Can we please delete this page and start over? Avril - Leigh (talk) 12:12, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Is there anyone that I can phone and speak to them rather than this to and fro?? Avril - Leigh (talk) 12:14, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Avril - Leigh: You have already been given very good advice about your request and do not appear to have heeded it. See above: "I can tell you right now that a request like the one above would not be implemented." and "The sources provided would have to meet our criteria; I'm not sure how good the above ones are - the section here about crypto sources isn't very encouraging." and "I don't think anyone is going to agree to changing the entire article, especially to the heavily promotional version above". The only way forward is "If there are specific sentences in the article you want changed" or "If there are facts you want added". Failing that, I do not see this going any further as we are just going round in circles, offering you advice which you are not taking on board. -Lopifalko (talk) 14:36, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
