area[edit]

The area figure of 106 700 km² is way too low. Avaanaa (North Greenland) consists of the municipality of Qaanaaq (area given as 225 500 km², which seems halfway plausible in comparison with the total area of Greenland), and the northern part of the Northeast Greenland National Park (total area given 972 000 km², which also seems plausible when looking at the map and accepting the total area of Greenland as 2 166 000 km², where I would eyeball about one third in the northern part, within Avaana). Based on this gross estimate, the area of Avaanaa would be around 550 000 km². Surely this is not very accurate, but much closer to the truth than 106 700 km². Should we write 500 000 km²? Or can one give a better estimate based upon map outline digitizing? Ratzer 07:08, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
