Hi June! Good article draft so far! For your 4th footnote, make sure to include the entire last name of the author. Right now it only says "Mary B." Jpaga (talk) 16:06, 2 November 2017 (UTC) (Prof. Paga)[reply]

Review[edit]

Hi June!

Great start so far! I really like the amount of detail you use to deal with the Chigi Vase scene! My main suggestion (which I see you are already doing) would be to discuss more than just the Chigi Vase, otherwise the article will feel more like an article on the Chigi Vase than on the Aulos player in Hoplite Warfare in Art.

Keep up the good work! Robert Y. Rob6820 (talk) 00:31, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

(More) Comments from Prof. Paga[edit]

Hi June - this is a good start! I can see where you plan to expand the article, which is great. Here are a few more suggestions.

  • Make sure to give your article a title and subdivide it into clear sections.
  • The claims about the aulos being "disliked" and the lyre being "infamous" do not come from a reputable website. Moreover, the conclusion of the article (although biased) is actually the opposite -- that the aulos was respected, especially given how often it was used and the fact that it was used for important events, like religious festivals and military movement. You'll need to carefully rework this section.
  • In addition to adding more examples from vases, consider adding a section about actual physical remains of auloses. There are a few examples from excavations that might be worth discussing to add more detail to your article.
