National Holiday India[edit]

As discussed on the WT:DAYS page, national holidays are allowable as hat notes. Wallie (talk) 11:00, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

From what I read there are three National Holidays in India viz Republic Day, Independence Day, and Mahatma Gandhi's Birthday, as compulsory holidays. The remaining holidays/ Milad-Un-Nabi or Id-E-Milad, Mahavir Jayanti, Idu'l Fitr, Dussehra (Vijaya Dashami), Guru Nanak's Birthday, Christmas Day. No, national holidays or events where the the dates are alternate names require hat notes. Elevating specific holidays as more important than others--the same peculiar obsession you had regarding historic events--is a complete non-starter. For example, there is NO holiday CALLED '26th of January': It's Australia Day, and it's already in the appropriate section. --CalendarWatcher (talk) 12:05, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This is exactly the same as the following: "For the Canadian holiday on July 1st, see Canada Day". Wallie (talk) 12:39, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And in Canada they DO refer to "the First of July", as the simplest Google search would show. Any time you'd like to discuss the actual rationale behind your actual edits--as well as provide actual evidence--rather than drag in other pages, do go right ahead. --CalendarWatcher (talk) 14:46, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I just gave my rationale. To cite WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS in this case when we are discussing India's national day, shows your true intentions. Anyway they do refer to the 15th of August. Wallie (talk) 15:16, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Births and deaths[edit]

In accordance with the guidelines, I'm continuing to weed the Births and Deaths sections by removing entries for celebrities with 0-4 articles in other languages. Where possible, these have been transferred to the relevant Year in Topic articles. As well as making the lists more manageable, this will help with the globalization effort. Births: Moina Michael[edit]

I do not know the correct procedure. She is the "Poppy Lady". Responsible for reason that poppies are used round the world for World War 1. Born 150 years ago on August 15, 1869. I believe she is noteworthy enough to be listed. Nicolas.hammond (talk) 08:38, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

15 Aug 2021 is 50 years since Stanford Prison Experiment[edit]

Stanford Prison Experiment is one of the most infamous experiments in psychology. Worth mentioning this year on August 15? DrMel (talk) 22:36, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
