It is the first in a Myst-like series[edit]

It seems, that "Myst-like" here is used as "graphical-adventure" in "3D" with puzzle elements(which here is the only connection to Myst). The main difference between Myst and other "graphical-adventures" both in 2D and 3D was that Myst had no inventory and the only gameplay element it offered as an adventure game was puzzles, which was mindblowing idea, because it took opposite direction from other adventure games, which had items to solve puzzles. Also, Myst was located on one tiny island - also mindblowing idea(unironically) in opposite direction, where games were offering to explore larger and larger worlds.

So, it is nothing like Myst-like game(same applies to Lost Eden description in mobygames).

Atlantis upon launching it first, reminded a lot of Lost Eden(and certainly not Myst) - complete opposite to barren world of Myst, which was not really that appealing game in mid199ies. Cryo games were represented in era with most advanced(for their time) 3d graphics and great music(of all times) - be it adventure games or Megarace series.

Fair use rationale for Image:Atlantisthelosttales.jpg[edit]

Image:Atlantisthelosttales.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Engine[edit]

In the article it is mentioned that motion scenes are "pre-rendered", yet my observation is that the panoramic views while standing are also fully pre-rendered. My guess is they were using 360° images which were mapped to a sphere around the player character. This looked quite good considering the small resources it needed (no 3D acceleration - the game used DirectX 3 only.) That in a way also explains the problems of centering stuff on the screen... Anyway, this is OR based on my observations, and although I guess it does work something like that, I couldn't find any details on this, so if anyone knows from a reliable source how this engine really works, it would help a lot...

One thing that might go a long way is figuring out what engine this game has. Once we know that, it's just a matter of looking up the engine specs. Larrythefunkyferret (talk) 05:38, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
