The article mentions that this character is very different from the slight information we have about the historical Atia's personality.

Possibly, but most of the historians of the time were staunch Republicans and were eager to condemn Augustus. It's not mentioned in the wiki article, but Atia as presented in the series is also based on the scheming wife of Marc Anthony, Fulvia. At Cicero's funeral, Fulvia famously pulled out her hairpins and stabbed his corpse in the tongue. In life, Cicero had frequently said some very nasty things about her. Reading her bio, I think you'll see the Atia character in the Rome show shine through. Definitely moreso than her namesake. 131.96.221.23 (talk) 20:38, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
