Listing the greatest[edit]

She was one of the five best-known Wagnerian heroic sopranos of her generation (the other four were Kirsten Flagstad, Gertrude Grob-Prandl, Birgit Nilsson, and Martha Mödl).

Not sure we should be listing them like this, as if these 5 ladies indisputably form the pantheon of greats, and all others are relegated to lower places. Also, I've never heard of Gertrude Grob-Prandl until now, which is a little surprising for a supposed "great". -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 20:33, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed these names and now Varnay is simply "one of the best-known Wagnerian heroic sopranos of her generation", which I think nobody would argue with. -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 01:29, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation?[edit]

-nay? -nigh? Perhaps it depends on the nationality. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.238.167.214 (talk) 16:55, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
