- They are already discussing in including India, Pakistan, Mongolia, Australia and New Zealand to the ACU Basket. Russia is applying for it as well but it is unclear as to where Russia should join, the EU or EAC. The ACU Basket is planned to be transferred to EAS/EAC and be an integral part of it (mainly to give more reason for the importance of EAC as opposed to APEC).

No other updates other than that. On a related note, ASEAN countries if all went well, supposed to have voted for the first Prime Minister of the ASEAN Parliament/Parliamentary, which will work as a governing body for the aspects and areas agreed upon to give up national sovereignty - one of this is the environment. It is said that ASEAN wants to establish the ASEAN Union first before going all-out with the EAC, as ASEAN has been voted to lead EAC.

East Asia Summit[edit]

I note the references linking the proposal to the East Asia Summit have been removed yet it is still linked on occassion with the broader 16 nation grouping see: [1]. I have not added this to the article as this may be speculation by an India-based commentator who would have reason to promote the broader grouping (because India is in the East Asia Summit but not ASEAN Plus Three). Are others able to identify more current discussion? - Eas21c (talk) 04:04, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have deleted the reference to two indices, one linked to the EAS grouping, as this article [2] makes clear the two indices are private products. The reference to the "bank" in the original article is tehrefore clarified - Eas21c (talk) 07:21, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
