Thomlinson was his mother's last name. Refer to a Loveline appearance here, he states that he was adopted a week after his birth, and was not named prior.--Fallout boy 06:45, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Too Speculative?

The last two paragraphs seem too speculative for an encyclopedic entry. Does anyone else have thoughts about this?

My thoughts are that this is a really poorly written Wikipedia entry. Moncrief 13:53, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

It might be pointed out that on his sirius radio show, Jim Brewer has told the story about meeting Chris Farley and what a drug pusher or enabler Andy Dick was to him. He implicates (indirectly) Dick in Farley's overdose and expresses extreme distaste for him. I don't know if this is cited anywhere. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.119.124.170 (talk) 20:51, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

david strickland

in the David Strickland article it says:

News reports of events leading up to his death, at the age of 29, suggest that he had chosen to stop taking the lithium he was prescribed to control his bipolar disorder. He spent the last three days of his life on an alcohol and drug binge with a friend, actor Andy Dick

yet it is not supported by a reference has anyone else read anything which supports this statement? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.53.88.129 (talk) 01:30, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Links to Phil Hartman's death?

There have been allegations that Andy Dick reintroduced Phil Hartman's wife (sober 10 years) to cocaine, which contributed to their deaths. The most easily sourceable accounts would probably come from Jon Lovitz. I've been considering whether it merits inclusion into the article. Any thoughts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.109.144.27 (talk) 17:07, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes, this is unexplained in the article. William Ortiz (talk) 01:42, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Where's his actual career?!

I'm no expert on the man's career, but there is zero reference to his first TV appearances on the New Get Smart or gee, I dunno, the show that made him so well known ..NewsRadio?!?! A little work here please. --68.37.191.119

But the following article says the he IS in fact bisexual: http://www.salon.com/ent/int/1998/09/22int.html

Theres a quote from him in Niel Strauss's book "The Game" also, He says himself that he is bisexual. Page 89, paragraph 7. aug 2008 incident

I moved the following from the article to here as I feel it needs a cite due to WP:BLP concerns about strong unsourced claims:

As of August 2008 Police are following up on a separate incident which also occurred on July 16, 2008, early in the morning after Dick locked his keys in his car, he decided to take a walk when an incident occurred which is believed to involve a now severely inebriated Dick taunting local children on their way to school by committing Public masturbation and endangering a child in the process.

. If someone would like to re-add it, I think that is fine as long as there's a cite. --Zippy (talk) 08:53, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

There was an incident on that date, but it is as the article states, not as the text above states. I can find nothing to support the deleted text. --Arg342 (talk) 09:34, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Fansite article vs. encyclopedia article

Listing every single appearance that Dick made, in excruciating detail, produces a trivia-laden fansite article, not an encyclopedic article. Much of the material in the article needs to be cut. Here's a small sample from the current article:

Dick had also had a guest shot on Star Trek: Voyager as the Emergency Medical Hologram Mark II in "Message in a Bottle".

He competed in the eighth season of Celebrity Poker Showdown. He finished in last place, behind Robin Tunney, Christopher Meloni, Macy Gray, and Joy Behar.

On May 16, 2007, Dick was roasted on The Howard Stern Show by Artie Lange, Lisa Lampanelli, Reverend Bob Levy, Sal Governale, Shuli, Colin Quinn, Benjy Bronk, Dave Atell, Greg Fitzsimmons, and Yucko the Clown.

This kind of material is completely trivial and has no place in an encyclopedia.2602:304:6EAF:CED0:283C:C9B:208B:61E4 (talk) 15:50, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

Category:LGBT Christians should be replaced with Category:LGBT Protestants as he is a Presbyterian. 142.160.131.202 (talk) 20:27, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Not done: Removed both categories per WP:OVERCAT. Categories are supposed to be the defining characteristics of a subject of the article. A defining characteristic is one that reliable sources commonly and consistently define the subject as having. One Beliefnet article is the only reflection of "Presbyterian-ness" and there is no indication of "commonly and consistently" calling Dick Presbyterian. Updates for Personal life and Bio box

NOTE: Lina Sved's name is misspelled on this wiki page. Should be "Lina", not "Lena", per her work bio and this insta page, which also confirms her as mother of four children.
Her insta is "Rosalina".

ABOUT MARRIAGE: Andy married Lina Sved in December 2013 (per interview source, below) through at least March 2018 (..may still be married..didn't dig). For more sources, there are a number of Feb-Mar 2018 news reports (including TMZ) that say she filed court papers for a restraining order related to his drinking. Those records confirmed she was still his wife at that time.

Interview source:
"Andy Dick: Back from the Brink" | Mon, Jun 30 2014 | By: Robert W. Welkos: "Now 48, the comedian has talked openly about being bisexual, He has been married twice and has three children. Last December, he married Lina Sved, the mother of his two youngest children, Meg, 16, and Jacob, 19. ..."

ABOUT CHILDREN: In the 14-Jul-2013 episode of Celebrity Wife Swap, Andy described Lina as his "baby mama", saying they weren't together but were best friends and coparenting—in Calabasas, at the time. Lina had three girls in the house: Meg (15), Rachel (14), Emily (?). The two younger girls are Lina's from another relationship, with Andy saying that he "kind of adopted the other two". She is a mother of four, including their son.

ASIDE: At the time of episode, Jennifer Gimenez appeared as Andy's girlfriend.

Other behavior

In 2005, Dick dropped his pants and exposed his genitals to the audience at Yuk Yuk's comedy club in Edmonton, Alberta. He was ushered off the stage, and the second night was cancelled.[1]

In August 2006, Dick attended the Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner. He licked the faces of Farrah Fawcett, Carrie Fisher, and Patton Oswalt. Mandy Stadtmiller wrote about being bitten by Dick in "Page Six" of The New York Post.[2]

... the last ref is wrong titled and point (i.e. not The New York Post), needs to be removed immediately as it is a bad link, and the statement is unverifiable as it stands.

This paragraph could be reworded

Under Career/Television: "In 1993, on the third night of David Letterman's new CBS show, Dick appeared as "Donnie the CBS Page Who Likes to Suck Up", during which he gave a watch to Letterman. The host then handed him a pencil, prompting Dick to cry and then walk backstage to much applause."

This paragraph reads very strangely. The reason for giving the watch to Letterman and why Dick started to cry is unclear. It also feels unnecessary to explain the minutia of the bit at all as it doesn't really improve the article. KieranStanley (talk) 02:37, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
