Popular culture reference[edit]

A note on a popular culture reference:

While I did not think this appropriate for the main article, there is a major subplot surrounding Dr. Chakrabarty's work in the Dean Koontz' novel Phantoms. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gavdana (talkcontribs) 19:34, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • use common names for biographies on wikipedia, not full names Gareth Jones (talk) 20:25, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment May be not as clear-cut as that. The transliteration suggests that his real name is Anandamohan, and that this is styled in English as Ananda Mohan, in which case the full name would be appropriate. Skinsmoke (talk) 02:03, 17 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • OpposeIts clear that in most papers his name is noted as AM Chakrabarty. As an author, he must have provided it. If Ananda Chakrabarty was the way preferred, he would have noted his name as A. Chakrabarty, as per usual first name abbreviation. In the first reference on patent, his name is noted as Ananda M. Chakrabarty. Another thing is that his name appears in school text books in India, and it is the full name. Common Name always may not be about internet appearance only.--GDibyendu (talk) 15:58, 20 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per Skinsmoke and GDibyendu. --BDD (talk) 20:12, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
