1) I couldn't find a complete discography anywer so I compiled several sources. I'm quite sure this list is incomplete... there is nothing from the 60s!

Treme (tv series)[edit]

Hurricane Katrina Tribute[edit]

Apparently Allen Toussaint recorded a charity single with J-pop superstar Mika Nakashima called "ALL HANDS TOGETHER" (all caps). I'll update the entry if I can find a better link [1]. The music video shows him playing piano while she sings. There are additional videos of him appearing on several television programs with her in Japan.--Burzum 02:10, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Background as a musician[edit]

Covers[edit]

The covers section should be broken up and moved to pages about each individual song or perhaps each album rather than as a long laundry list of data on the article about Toussaint himself. I'm tempted to add {{Cleanup-list}} to the article but I'm not exactly sure if that's appropriate.

For example, you don't see a list of covers in Paul Simon's article or even in the List of songs written by Paul Simon. Instead they're listed in the song's article, like Mrs. Robinson. Jeff d kirby (talk) 17:35, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Date of death[edit]

Although reliable sources state that he died on Monday 9th (or, after a concert on 9th) this source gives more specific details - that he suffered a cardiac arrest back at his hotel, after the concert, and that doctors were called at 1.15 am (Central European Time) on Tuesday 10th. He was resuscitated, but suffered a second cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital, and was pronounced dead on arrival there. So, the article should state that he died on November 10, not 9. Images[edit]

Comment. It depends on whether other editors are planning to expand the article. It's astounded me, over the last few days, that so few editors (and apparently no Americans) have taken enough interest in this article to improve it. The article, including the discography, still needs a lot of work to bring it up to a reasonable standard, and unfortunately the veto by one editor against its appearance on the main page means that most editors won't be reminded of its existence. If the article is going to be improved, and particularly if the discography is going to be expanded and improved, it should be hived off into a new article. If you'd like, I could do some work on it when I get a little time. I've been meaning to eventually do some New Orleans R&B stuff--I've been trying to build up the garage treasury and get it to the point where it is well represented enough Wikiwise, but eventually I'd like to branch out a bit. You may know that I'm from New Orleans--born and raised. These very words are being typed about six blocks from the Mississippi River. So, I have a feel for the whole locale, which might be helpful. I got to meet Toussaint on time and he was very kind. I'd see him driving around in his 70s-era Rolls Royce out by Bayou St. Jean. So, I was really shocked to hear of his death. Toussaint's/Meters' developments preceded the 1970s[edit]

I made a few corrections and slight changes in text/format. Toussaint's move towards funk began during the Sansu period in the mid to late 60s and reached fruition in the 1970s, but it did not start in the 70s as the article (unsourced) previously made it seem. Rather, it was the result of a longer process. One can clearly hear this early funk development in records (backed by members of the Meters) in classics such as "Working on a Coal Mine" and "Ride Your Pony," that have a markedly pronounced syncopation. I moved discussion of his work with the Meters as a backing band to the Sanso sub-section. Garagepunk66 (talk) 23:26, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
