After the trial[edit]

Alexander Howland Smith went on to have a store at 26 George Street in Edinburgh. Refence 1901 census. He died on May 3, 1913 of Spinal Meningitis that spread to his brain. His place of death was in Newington, Edinburgh. The death register notes him as single Lmfh (talk) 22:51, 9 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
