Multiple issues on my page[edit]

Ankitonein (talk) 06:57, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Article on Akshat Chopra has multiple issues. Please help improve it or discuss these issues on the talk page. The notability of this article's subject is in question. If notability cannot be established, it may be listed for deletion or removed. Tagged since December 2011. It may contain an excessive amount of intricate detail that may only interest a specific audience. Tagged since December 2011. It is in a list format that may be better presented using prose. Tagged since December 2011.[reply]

I have been seeing this message, but don't know what exactly the problem is? Can you please elaborate or explain in a manner that is easily understood, so that corrective steps can be taken at the earliest?Ankitonein (talk) 06:57, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I'm sorry if you are having difficulty understanding the problems with this article. There are three main issues that I have highlighted, each of which is quite serious. All articles on Wikipedia must demonstrate that they are what Wikipedia calls notable. All this really means is that there must be enough reliable information available publically to write a meaningful article. The references you cite do not appear to have sufficient information for this purpose; you need to demonstrate that there are sufficient independent and reliable sources. Articles should not contain indiscriminate information that is of no interest to the general reader. There will be very little interest over a list of commercials that the performer has been involved in for example and this is inappropriate unless there is some particular reason that this is of interest. Such a reason should be stated in the article. It may be appropriate to discuss an individual advert if there is something particularly noteworthy about it. Finally, Wikipedia articles should present information in prose format (ordinary sentences like these in my reply) unless there is a good reason to do otherwise. Biographical articles are generally expected to contain significant prose; simply listing appearances and awards does not make a Wikipedia biography article.
If you are still not sure, I suggest you follow the links in my message above or on the tags I added to your page. You could also look at the featured articles of similar individuals, e.g. Preity Zinta perhaps. The welcome message posted to your talk page also has helpful links, including the perfect article and getting mentored.
Please note that this article is in no practical sense "yours". When you commit edits to Wikipedia you grant a license that allows other editors to modify your article in whatever way they see fit. If you are the subject (or personally or professionally close to the subject) of the article, Wikipedia asks that you follow the guidelines at WP:COI, including "COI editing is strongly discouraged."
Please don't take this as personal criticism. Writing good articles is not easy and many very good articles had humble beginnings. I suggest as a first step you concentrate on demonstrating notability; if an article's subject isn't demonstrably notable and encyclopedic, it may be deleted. Otherwise, editors are encouraged to improve articles over time.

Proper use of talk pages[edit]

I note my comment above was deleted by an IP user. Please do not delete other users' comments. This disrupts the flow of debate on a page and hampers arrival at a proper consensus. It is in direct violation of guidelines for the use of talk pages – see WP:TPO. Thank you. --MegaSloth (talk) 00:36, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ankitonein (talk) 19:22, 1 January 2012 (UTC)Wishing you a very Happy New Year 2012. Thanx for all the suggestions. Your kind advice has been incorporated in the article with around 30 notable and reliable references.Ankitonein (talk) 19:22, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File:Akshat Chopra.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion[edit]

An image used in this article, File:Akshat Chopra.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Clean up and removal of sources[edit]

I have cleaned up the article per WP:NPOV, WP:MOS and WP:NOTPROMOTION and removed some unsourced claims/credits (after verifying), a list of names of some actors and brands who the subject has worked for/with and an unnecessary section Press/media'. I have also removed some references which fail to verify the name of the subject and some were dead and Wayback Machine also fails to recover (I will be including the list soon). If you have any question please reply here of leave a message on my talk page. Thank you – If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{U|GSS-1987}} to your message, and signing it.
