Copy edit[edit]

Hello! I have started copy-editing the article as requested on the GOCE page by @Gabriel Yuji:. I have finished most of the article, but the plot has confused me. For example, it says Yasuoka arranges a new match against Yakuza (which doesn't make sense itself, because as I understand it Yakuza is not a player but the name of the gambling house), but then says that this defeat is what makes Akagi a legend. I'm unfamiliar with the story and so cannot correct the plot, so if someone can elaborate on it (especially the entire second paragraph) I can copy-edit it correctly and cut it down to size again. Thanks, karatalk 00:00, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hm, Satkara, yakuza is many times referred as the "Japanese Mafia". It's a group of people; he played with one of the yakuza members (Yagi), then defeated another player (Ichikawa). I hope it makes things clearer. Gabriel Yuji (talk) 00:11, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Gabriel Yuji. But the plot says that Yasuoka arranges the game, and that "he" defeats Ichikawa---is he arranging the game *for* Akagi? Or does Yasuoka defeat Ichikawa, and Akagi defeats Yasuoka? Is Yasuoka both a policeman and member of the mafia? It would also be helpful to known where Akagi meets Yukio Hirayama, and a bit more about the tournament Akagi plays in after he resurfaces. karatalk 00:34, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, I see, I let thing a bit ambiguous. I've tried to clarify. Tell me what you think, Satkara. Gabriel Yuji (talk) 00:47, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It looks good Gabriel Yuji! The plot doesn't actually say who wins the final game, so you should add that. I'll look over the article again, but I think my copy-edit is finished. karatalk 01:11, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Also, the lead says Akaji returns six years later, but the plot says he returns five years later. You should fix one of those! karatalk 01:12, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Also, not related to copy-edit but if you plan to nominate this for GA it would be helpful to explain how the books mentioned in "related books" actually relate to Akaji. For example, is the character book about all of Akaji's characters or is it about characters in Manga in general? What about Akaji did the anthologies mention (for example, "an anthology on mahjong players in manga, including Akagi, was released on X by Y".) That's all, I'll mark this edit as done! karatalk 01:21, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
a) the game did not ended (it may seem strange but yeah it has been lasting some years...) b) my bad, the correct is six years c) good advise; I'll try to do it (however, there are some hindrances as there's some difficult to find them [or even translations or info about them] outside Japan). Again, thank you very much! Gabriel Yuji (talk) 02:45, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
