Eponym question[edit]

Michael Hardy - a few questions for you: Is it appropriate to include the eponym in the lead, and if so which one do you prefer...

Aitchison geometry is a framework focused on the analysis of data.....(so forth)....where each element of the space is a composition. John Aitchison is credited with being the eponym for the framework.

I am open to suggestions and would very much appreciate your expert opinion. If you're of the mind that none of the above should be included in the lead or if you think it should be included as body text somewhere else in the article, or perhaps excluded altogether, please advise. Merge with compositional data or simplex?[edit]

Compositional data seems to be almost entirely contained in this article and doesn't seem to have much content to me. Is this not just giving examples where all data points lie on a simplex? It seems like that should either be merged here or to applications of simplices (see also talk page discussion).

Also, can this article (Aitchison geometry) be merged into applications of simplices? The content of this article seems to be a definition of three operations on the simplex and a description of a few isomorphisms, but perhaps their significance to statistics is greater than I can tell. — MarkH21 (talk) 06:25, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
