The Ideology behind Airwolf

Having watched a number of Airwolf films I cannot help feeling s certain Nazi or SS connection. Although the Airwolf serial is much more intelligent and better filmed than e.g. Walker, Texas Ranger or the unmentionable Sylvester Stallone films, they all share the image of the lone American wolves fighting against evil, i.e. Communist or similar un-American forces. In Airwolf, advanced secret weapons play a central role. (In all likelihood there will never be anything like a supersonic helicopter, at least not one with a rotating wing) All that reminds me of SS heroes like Wernher von Braun with his rockets, inventors like Messerschmitt with his jets and the like who also fought Communism, so they believed, with advance weapons - and lost. Was this series meant as a kind of moral re-armament against lame duck democrats whose stand against Communists and other crooks required a patriotic boost? --Ontologix (talk) 06:15, 9 July 2012 (UTC)ontologix

Hey man, that was the 80's. Height of the Cold War and everything. If you didn't live through all that you'll probably get a wrong impression of how such a show was perceived at the time. But contrary to your thoughts, Hawke was the hero because he did NOT sell out to the establishment, and hand over the superweapon to a ruthless warmongering government. In contrast Wernher von Braun worked for the Nazis full time. (But you really can't compare the designers and developers of technology with those who actually use it in action! So maybe Moffat was the real hero, trying to bring balance to the world? Also: David Hemmings?? - wow, I never realized that...)
I think you're reading too much into the premise of the show. It was the 80's. People still believed in progress through high technology. Let's have a show with an intelligent car that talks - Let's have a show about a detective agency with a nerd who's an ace with computers - Let's have a show with a superweapon motorbike for fighting crime - Let's have a show with a bulletproof helicopter that can go supersonic... --BjKa (talk) 11:43, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

The Firm

I was wondering about the building where Archangel works. Any information what that is and where it's located? Or was it just a model and doesn't really exist? --BjKa (talk) 11:43, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
