Peter Moore(s)

Apparently there are multiple Peter Moore's. The most famous one is of Sega, MS, and EA fame. The 2nd one is Peter C. Moore who served as creative director to both Nike and Adidas.[1] It's even more confusing because both guys are old and bald, and the 1st Peter Moore worked for two shoe companies as well: Patrick and Reebok. [2] Can we make this more clear somehow by using Peter C. Moore instead of Peter Moore? Noonehereok (talk) 22:43, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

References

Spike Lee

I am not quite sure why someone credited Spike Lee as the designer of the AJ1, but I, along an endless list of sources, are pretty sure that Peter Moore designed them. I changed this fact and the link referencing to it (which was not working anyway). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.238.202.136 (talk) 15:51, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Horrible

Air Jordans are probably some of the most popular shoes in history, and this article is completely unbecoming of their legacy. Horrible article; no pictures, ugly layout. Horrible.

I agree. The sections needs much more effort put into it. It needs some pictures first and foremost. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.72.2.73 (talk) 14:30, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Someone definitely needs to edit for more encyclopedic language, at the very least explaining the "sneakerhead" slang (e.g. "retroed," "quick strike").Kuahmel (talk) 06:33, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

"Suffering from its 'jogging brand' image, Nike had no credit in the basketball world. The running shoe phenomenon that had fueled their sales in previous years was slowly dying, and they needed a way to revitalize and reinvent themselves in order to appeal to another segment of the market. That is when Nike saw something special in the rookie player Michael Jordan, they saw a chance, an opportunity." -- Seriously? This is some of the worst writing I've seen on Wikipedia, at least on an article of this length and importance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.2.228.192 (talk) 20:20, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

It seems that almost all of this article is taken, with some minor modifications to the language and some colorful opinions mixed in, from http://www.nicekicks.com/air-jordans/air-jordan-1/ . Whoever wants to should basically cut out the dumb additions and then cite that page.

Sky Jordans?

Weren't they originally called Sky Jordans? I swear I had a pair when I was a kid that said Sky Jordan on them rather than Air Jordan. quadratic 06:11, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

the kids sizes were sky jordans. mens sizes were air jordans.

or did you have Sky High Jordans? Sky High Air Jordans

why the change in format

this used to have pics of each shoe and stuff. i remember it being a much detailed article. frankly, it sucks ass now. why the change?--Jaysscholar 01:49, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Wow, what the heck

This article is really cheesey. It seems it was written by someone working for an ad company, an MJ fanboy, or someone who like shoes way too much. There are also a few spelling errors.

Yup. Everything from the opening blurb down is a POV mess. Tony Myers 22:23, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. I came here hoping for more info on people murdered for shoes and other sports fashion, and the use of fashions by drug dealers.[1] --Singkong2005 talk 05:09, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Well then you appear to have a morbid view of sports sneakers Singkong, however the article is a mess as of now and needs a lot of work particularly in the area of citing it's sources and verifying what appears to be some original research claims. Quadzilla99 18:43, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

External links for Air Jordan Release Dates and Air Jordan Information

There is another website called http://www.sneakerfiles.com and has a very update Air Jordan Release Dates. I have seen it added, but taken down. I do not understand why this is, since its real information, I am not just promoting my site, All Air Jordan Release Dates are there. Check for yourself: http://www.sneakerfiles.com/air-jordan-release-dates

Air Jordan XI

They were not inspired by Tuxedo Shoes. They were inspired by a car. The patent leather was meant to replicate the look of chrome.

This article needs some serious polishing.

List might be too exhaustive

If one is gonna do a comprehensive description of each model, maybe a page for each should be considered? If not, it should definitely be shortened. Right now, this entry reads like a Wikipedia page for a car.Kuahmel (talk) 02:49, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Jordan Brand: Change to or Separate?

While this article largely covers the Air Jordan line of shoes, there is a lot of Jordan Brand related information. Either this article should be retitled Jordan Brand, or a separate article should be created for the Jordan Brand. Any thoughts? heat_fan1 (talk) 13:22, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Isn't the title "Air Jordan" already referring to the brand? Or does "Air Jordan" only refer to the shoes? -- œ 00:20, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
The shoes, really. The brand is "Jordan". heat_fan1 (talk) 03:41, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Well the majority of the article still seems to be dealing with the shoes. But you could always file a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves and see what people will say. -- œ 21:18, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Air Jordan Flight Sc 1

The Air Jordan Flight SC-1 borrows features from other Air Jordan models. The sole comes from the Air Jordan 3 while laceholders look similar to the ones on the Air Jordan IV. But lets focus on the details of this colorway. This colorway of the Flight SC-1 features a upper made mostly of smooth white leather. Varsity Red is seen on the midsole and eyelets while the outsole comes in black. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jrsz (talkcontribs) 20:26, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Team Jordan

If any of the wikipedia editors weren't Fucking Stupid they would go the team jordan official website and realize that half of the wikipedia page listed members of Team Jordan ARE NOT TEAM JORDAN MEMBERS. I already tried to edit it correctly based on the the official team jordan website but my edits got deleted for NO reason (I had correct formatting and listed members).

Can you link me to the diff of the edit you tried to make? -- œ 12:27, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
Nevermind, I already updated it according to the website. Please remember to be civil next time if someone reverts you by mistake. -- œ 12:48, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Pictures?

The only way to make this article better is that everyone contributes, edits it, and tries to fix it - not just complain about it. This is a call to other editors to put in an effort. I'm taking photos of pairs that I own, but surely there are other people who own pairs that I don't. So everyone, take photos of the missing pairs and put them in the article.--ric_man (talk) 01:28, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

dismal success

At the start of the article in the piece about the first air jordan there is a phrase: "In 1994 the Air Jordan 1 was re-released with dismal success." I am not a native English speaker but i think that calling something a dismal success is not proper English. I propose replacing "dismal success" with "dismal failure" or something similar. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 145.97.224.169 (talk) 20:21, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

Air Jordan murders and muggings

Since the late-80s/early-90s there have been news stories about kids getting killed for their Air Jordans. Two kids were just killed this month (December 2012) over the shoes: an adult and 16-year-old, both in Texas. Here's a noted 1990 Sports Illustrated article about an Air Jordan-related murder, it also references a second Jordans murder around the same time as well as the rise in muggings over the shoes. --Bobak (talk) 16:01, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

Retroed vs. Retro-ed vs. Retro'ed vs. Retrod

These terms are inconsistent in the Product history section. I assume they all mean the same thing, but "retroed" is spelled three different ways and "retrod" means something a bit different. The term "re-release" is also used, but I have no idea if this is the same thing or different. I have no knowledge of the subject and am not sure what the official term should be, so I'll leave this to someone else to fix. Shapular (talk) 02:50, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Actual quality and performance as a shoe.

As a researcher with no interest in actually owning or wearing such shoes, I was hoping to find data relating to their actual quality and performance. Is there any hard evidence at all that they are worth their high retail price, or that the physical details of their design and construction materials and so-called annual technical 'improvements' impart any measurable advantage to an athlete in preference to another brand such as Adidas or Reebok, or indeed to a ten dollar plimsoll? It operated the types CV-240, C-46, DC-3, DC-4 (lsf Transocean) and DC-6 in the 1950s until 1961, plus Airspeed AS.65 Consul and De Havilland DH.104 Dove. Roger Federer

In the Sponsorship section Roger Federer is mentioned. I'm not a sneaker expert, but I don't think Roger Federer is currently sponsored by Air Jordan. Since last year he is an owner of the brand on. Maybe Air Jordan sponsored him in the past. has anybody a source of that? If not I'll delete his entry in some days.--Malo95 (talk) 11:57, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

"Air Jordan" refers specifically to the line of basketball shoes, while clothing, jerseys, and accessories are made by "Jordan Brand." Nike refers to the brand as simply "Jordan". But to state that "Air Jordan is an American brand of basketball shoes, athletic, casual, and style clothing", as the article's lead currently does, is inaccurate. 162 etc. (talk) 16:51, 12 November 2021 (UTC)

  • I disagree. Nike owns Jordan Brand completely; easier to correct the article with a brief explanation about what Jordan brand is. A redirect is still perfect with this.Mwinog2777 (talk) 18:59, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
Disagree, as Mwinog2777. Neo the Twin (talk) 23:21, 13 March 2022 (UTC)
Disagree, for the reasons state by Mwinog2777. Although you can rename the article Jordan Brand, I do not believe there is a reason to split them. Jibreel23 (talk) 13:20, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Television and Films

Air Jordans have implemented their significance in pop culture and on the big screen. Many shows and movies have included the shoes in the movies, which led to the Air Jordan brand releasing exclusive shoes that were inspired by the movie. In this category, I suggest briefly mentioning movies such as Do the Right Thing, Space Jam," and He Got Game to emphasize the significant role that the movies have played in some of the Air Jordan designs. Karisse21 (talk) 16:55, 10 May 2023 (UTC)

Product History

Each of the shoe descriptions found in this category vary; some of the descriptions are long, short, or even one sentence; therefore, some of the information is insightful and some is not, so I think finding a consistent paragraph structure is necessary in order to ensure that equal amounts of information are included in each shoe description. Karisse21 (talk) 17:18, 10 May 2023 (UTC)

Some shoes are more notable than others. 70.163.208.142 (talk) 20:05, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
