Proposed Merge[edit]

Merging is a good idea - they seem to be the same organisation, perhaps the difference is the result of a typo. Does anyone know what the correct spelling of the name is? Autarch (talk) 17:44, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. The other article adds nothing to the main one except mistakes (e.g. translating "Ailtirí" as "brotherhood," which is just wrong). "Aiséirghe" seems to be the correct spelling. The Douglas book says: "The word 'Aiséirghe' has several variants of spelling, among them the archaic 'aiséirighe'..." (p. 81, footnote). But all of the party's own publications that he lists in his bibliography spell it as "Aiséirghe," so that would appear to be the preferred form. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.65.202.148 (talk) 17:23, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes to merge. I created the other page because I didn't know this one existed. That's because it's unlinked by practically anything else, including the Historic Irish parties box. Translation and spelling on my page are from Manning (1972) and O Drisceoil (1996), not my own original research (I don't speak Irish). What the other page adds, in response to anonymous user, is some context of other far-right movements in Ireland, and integration with the rest of the Wikipedia. The current spelling is correct now. The modern spelling would be "aiséirí" (meaning resurrection), but the political group used the "sean-litiriú" (old spelling). --John Lunney (talk) 14:29, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
