POV[edit]

This page is ridiculously POV. Clearly promoting a particular angle. But with lots of citations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1.132.96.36 (talk) 14:49, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

burn this whole article. 70.162.140.74 (talk) 01:05, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

i agree. at the very least, everything after the first paragraph should be deleted, because it is all just a defense of ideological capitalism, and has absolutely nothing to do with the concept of "actually existing capitalism". Benjamin5152414 (talk) 02:48, 29 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This article needs serious work[edit]

I agree that this article reflects bias. This article also indicates that the author has a very surface based understanding of economics. Indeed what the author listed as causes of the 1929 Crash and the 2007 financial crisis is outright false and should be removed because of how blatantly wrong these entries are.

The author does have a few sources, but they are not very respectable and creditable sources. In short the sources need serious work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.241.224.173 (talk) 19:31, 24 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

POV Improvements[edit]

I've improved the article's POV problems, and also removed some redundant content / grammatical errors. It is a bit small, however. TheTiksiBranch (talk) 17:44, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Missing the point[edit]

This article is scattered all over the place.

The author(s) miss the point: the phrase "actually existing socialism" is twenty years older and much more common (by a factor of 10 in google n-grams). It has a specific origin and meaning in Soviet-Marxist thinking around 1960 (and in Russian or East European languages, probably earlier -- see Actually Existing Socialism). What it means exactly is a matter for research, but it's clear that the phrase "actually existing capitalism" is a riff on that earlier phrase.

Whether "actually existing capitalism" was a part of Marxist theory, or was used ironically by classical libertarians, is an interesting question, but it's not answered convincingly here. The whole thing looks like original research.

I'd suggest reading the references for this page carefully to see if they really describe the usage of the phrase "actually existing capitalism" -- in particular who uses it -- or rather are an attempt by the author(s) to flesh the POV concept that they think it is meant to represent.

I just found the Wikipedia article Actually Existing Socialism. It is much better written.
