Untitled[edit]

The band should be kept due to its significance/prominence in the Norwegian Black Metal scene, especially the member It (real name Tony Sarkka) who was involved in the Satanic Black Circle at the time of Oystein Aarseth's demise. Oystein himself has been quoted as saying that Abruptum was "the audial embodiment of Pure Black Evil [sic]"

Their albums have been reviewed by websites which cater to people who like black metal and dark ambient music. Many of their professional reviews have noted the band's commitment to pure noise and have noted their music as some of the most difficult to listen to. They are also noteworthy to be included on Allmusic (with a short biography included) and have been mentioned in Michael Moynihan's book Lords of Chaos: The Bloody Rise of the Satanic Metal Underground.

While the article is not that large, I AM currently scouring the internet for more information on the band as well as helpful links to professional reviews. --Progkeeg 06:24, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, there is a page on Abruptum on the German Wikipedia. --Progkeeg 07:48, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I thought It's real name was Matti Särkkä. This is only from memory, not checked from sources, which might be also wrong (my sources are memory and other Abruptum/Ophtalamia fans), if Tony is listed on other sites. I know he was born in Finland and moved to Sweden at an early age, thus the finnish name. --(pseudonymous) 29 July, 2006

== More Updates

I added some more information about some of the albums as well as listing the members of the band as they were. I do think that the first paragraph has a slight slant in it but if no other information is available, it should be okay as most of the information on this band is pretty limited anyways. 1/24/07

Additional Updates[edit]

I added some more information about some of the albums as well as listing the members of the band as they were. All information pulled from Metal-Archives.com. 1/24/07 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 12.158.146.187 (talk) 22:07, 24 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I also added a paragraph about their musical style since I think its worth noting and has not been done before or since that I am aware of.
