House of Marcus Lycus[edit]

Im sure The House Of Marcus Lycus is in the movie too. Am I wrong?

Yes, it is. What made you think it wasn't? Ed Fitzgerald (unfutz) (talk / cont) 20:24, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As long as we are talking about the House of Lycus, it is not a brothel. The courtesans are not prostitutes. They don't get paid. They are slaves bought and sold for the purpose of sex. Sex does not occur in the House of Lycus (unless the customers get to try out a girl they wish to purchase, which is probably unlikely). The girl is bought outright and sex takes place at home from that point on.

Changing "brothel owner" to "buyer and seller of beautiful women". --Waynesewell (talk) 17:33, 26 June 2010 (UTC) lol Right ;)24.155.52.136 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 17:32, 1 May 2011 (UTC).[reply]

I would like to point out that this gives the article a very sexist tone. I know this is intended in the context of the movie which in turn was intended in the context of the mores of ancient Rome, but in modern understanding, sex trafficing is understood as a form of prostitution. This is NOT a good wording. i kan reed (talk) 16:08, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What is a "virgin courtesan"? Those terms are rather inconsistent!

Historical Worth[edit]

Please who wrote that? It kills every wikipedia standard I can think of. Ok I just had to say this but I cant solve it because I havent even watched this movie, I got here by error, read that and thought I was in some kind of blog or something!!! Someone better and nobler than me, please, change it! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.147.219.47 (talk) 16:50, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
