"Major life activities"[edit]

I've added the sentence "The law now specifies a list of major life activities, rather than leaving that phrase open to interpretation as the ADA of 1990 did." I know I've read that somewhere, which isn't a source, I know. I hope that I or someone else soon will find a reference for that. - Hordaland (talk) 12:21, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Found and added a ref. The article needs development. If the restrictions that this new law is intended to remove are covered elsewhere on Wikipedia, they should be linked here. If not, summaries of court cases and other instances of narrowing the intent of the ADA might be added here. - Hordaland (talk) 17:32, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Added Links, Detailed Some Changes and Broke into Several Sections[edit]

I added links to the Sutton and Toyota Supreme Court decisions I added links to the Senate bill that became law. I added detail to the changes in the definition of disability. I also changed the description of Supreme Court decision from "erroneous" to "controversial". While SCOTUS's decisions were likely not in line with Congressional intentions, they were not clearly erroneous. Is the article now sufficiently balanced to remove the neutrality question from December 2008? 67.82.89.250 (talk) 07:55, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Improvements, thanks! The article had at one time, IIRC, a ref to a congressman's page about it, explaining how Congress' initial intentions had slowly been undermined by the courts and by the EEOC. Too bad that site disappeared.
In addition to the neutrality issue, the article is tagged for being in list form, made up entirely of bullet points. That's not critical - it can be changed - but the lack of a lead section is. Probably a lead paragraph or two should be added before the issue of neutrality is decided? - Hordaland (talk) 11:31, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
