Celtic affairs minister[edit]

In a recent cabinet shuffle, the premier of New Brunswick named a minister of Celtic Affairs.

On June 10 an IP editor inserted the sentence "An ignorant member of the chattering classes blasted the idea behind the Celtic Affairs ministry, while he, an Acadian, overlooked the existence of a minister for La Francophonie." This was cited to an article on the CBC website that described reaction to the appointment, some favourable and some not.[1] The content was not supported by the cited article. It is also offensive and biased. I replaced it with the sentence "The Celtic affairs appointment was controversial, with some questioning the need for the new post." I have now done the same thing 4 times, removing such stuff as "One member of the ivory tower suite with Francophone parentage questioned the need for the Celtic Affairs post" and "The Celtic affairs appointment was questioned by a loopy member of the chattering classes." No doubt the person making these edits finds them funny. The latest effort is "A Francophone questioned the need for the Celtic affairs post, and it was sensationalised by an editor at the CBC." In an effort to bring an end to this silliness, I have removed the reference and the most recent edit. This content is hardly vital to an article about the 58th New Brunswick Legislature.HazelAB (talk) 19:48, 28 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

HazelAB has difficulty with the plural adjectival form. The article in question cited one *and only one* Francophone critic, while relegating *two* supportive people to the end of the article. HazelAB repeatedly suggested that "some" questioned the appointment. In this case, "some" is plural, and therefore misleads readers. This is unsupported by the article, as I stressed on several occasions, and I would recommend remedial grammar for HazelAB. I see no harm in highlighting the editorial bias of the CBC editor in this instance. It might even be good for the CBC to be called out on their evident bias, as they seem increasingly to be yet one more uncontrolled Crown corporation. 142.166.176.241 (talk) 21:08, 28 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
