WHATS UP by FOUR NON BLONDES
In the never ending search for the greatest "one hit wonder" (definition of having reached #1) of all time, a voting competition has been running in ADELAIDE AUSTRALIA. Whats Up was #1 in ADELAIDE for 2 weeks in DECEMBER, 1993. Whats Up has surfaced as one of the leading songs for the title of greatest one hit wonder of all time.
  • Linda Perry and 4 Non Blondes performed a brilliant live version of Whats Up at the Annual Billboard Presentation evening for 1993.

Cleaning up article

This article was written like a fan site, not like an encyclopedia. I cleaned up the writing, removed some of the unverified references, and placed a non-verified tag on the article. It still needs work. Orangemarlin 06:24, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Apparantly, some of the content under Musical Success was a word for word copy of the VH1 bio on 4 non-blondes, which itself was copied(credited) from All Music Guide. - cgilbert(talk|contribs) 01:46, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Reliable sources

Please stop removing sourced material. BAM (Bay Area Music) was a leading music publication that was printed in both a Northern and Southern California edition for over two decades. The magazine also sponsered the yearly BAMMIES. Your edits/rm of that sourced material has once again been reverted.
One other request, as you seem to be interested in this band, perhaps, rather than deleting the sourced material, you could spend some time finding sources for the uncited material and, if no sources can be found, removing those comments instead. Also please feel free to add new information to this story if you find sources.
And for the heck of it, in case anyone else needs help to establish that BAM magazine is (was) a real source here are just a few mentions, interviews, articles and so on. "Show Shouldn't Go On", "Bam To Cease Publishing", "Bammies go one step further -- bronze plaques in the sidewalk", "Journey Induction into the BAMMIES Walk of Fame", "The Bay Area Music Awards", "West Coast music magazines BAM and Seattle Rocket combine forces; now third-largest U.S. popular- music publication", "Interview from Hell", "ARTHUR M. SOHCOT Award", "Chris Isaak, Primus top Bammie ballot ;17th show honors Bay Area musicians on March 5" and "Nostalgia plays well at California Music Awards. Young bands win, but veterans steal show". Of course if all you did was look at the Wikipedia article you may get the impression it was not much but that article is in dire need to expansion. Thanks. If it can't be verified it can't stay on Wikipedia. BLPs require reliable sources, not marginal ones.
I'm not interested in the band, I'm cleaning up poorly sourced material because the Wikimedia Foundation received a complaint about the incorrect info: VRTS ticket # 2008111210030712.
BAM seems like a local niche magazine, not a reliable source. If the info sourced to it is encyclopedically notable, better sources will exist to reference it. -- Jeandré, 2008-11-24t11:28z
Jeandré, dude, have you ever held a BAM in your hands? Have you ever seen one yourself? You are saying it "seems like a local niche magazine". By that exact standard I suppose you are also going around deleting anything sourced to the NY Times, LA Times, Village Voice, LA Weekly and any other "Local" paper. Also anything that might be sourced to any "niche" publication such as Guitar Player, Bass Player, Modern Drummer and such. If you want to discuss this further we can take this to another location such as the reliable sources talk page, but not here. Bottom line is the information is cited and from a source that was respected amongst musicians and fans so, as I said, start worrying about u-sourced material or adding newly sourced material that you have found. if anyone cares about the facts

cara crash never recorded with the 4 non blondes. she was a personal friend to the band, was a roommate of christa hillhouse's, and she roadied a few times before the band got signed. cara crash never auditioned for the 4 non blondes or played music with the 4 non blondes. louis matoyer was never a member of 4 non blondes; he was a studio guitarist that recorded on the album when shaunna hall left. matoyer was asked to join the band but declined. roger rocha joined the band after the album was recorded. roger rocha was fired from 4 non blondes in the spring of 1994. the 4 non blondes toured during the summer of 1994 with jim mankey (concrete blonde) on guitar. the band also did some shows as a 3 piece until they broke up during the recording of their second record.

whoever keeps commenting that cara crash played in 4 non blondes is mistaken. i was in the band from it's beginning until it's end and that's just the truth. period.

While I understand it seems silly for someone who was involved with a project to not be considered a "reliable" source that is how Wikipedia works. In the past comments made directly by you and "sourced" to "C. Hillhouse 2009" have since been removed. (See difs) Anyone can claim they are someone and state facts but unless there are reliable sources that back it up (via The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth) it is considered OR. There have been other "members of the band" who have also stated "facts" that have been removed. Kara/Cara's involvement came from various sources, such as the "Malibu Barbi" Demo review that BAM ran, which most likely used a bio provided by the band. If you are Christa don't take it personally as other bands and artists have faced the same scrutiny. See recent discussions about Quiet Riot as an example - Cleaning up and correcting this page, the official Quiet Riot camp. (And the threads that follow that as well). 4 Blondes

I note that the first novel written by Candace Bushnell after Sex and the City is 4 Blondes, and I have to believe that she got the spelling (numeral not spelled-out "four") if not the name from this band. I doubt you could prove it though. Shocking Blue (talk) 22:37, 13 February 2012 (UTC)
